Mark Rylance: always ask "what would the Bard say"
I recently let the RSC know that I feel I must resign as I do not wish to be associated with BP any more than I would with an arms dealer, a tobacco salesman or anyone who wilfully destroys the lives of others alive or unborn. Nor, I believe, would William Shakespeare

while luvvie protest often leaves me cold, i’ve got a soft spot for rylance. obv a really good actor, he’s also a soft, softly spoken, old mystic and walks his jack russells round brockwell park wearing parti-coloured clothes and an odd felt hat, likes arthur machen. the sort of real england i can get behind. probably has as good an internal feeling for shakespeare as anyone, despite a laughably bad 12th Night i saw him direct once, so i’m backing him on this.

if only more of england was as real as rylance tbh

some tory muppet on the radio last night was saying it was a hypocritical move by him because he is an AS apologist by dint of publicly stick up for corbyn recently. Which even if true someone could easily be both an AS apologist and be an environmentalist at the same time without any hypocrisy.
anyway fuck 'em, he might do some absolute garbage movies but he's a class actor and seems like a class act.

JIM Fennell of Holmebridge has found one of those 20p pieces that has no date. You know, the ones that are supposed to be worth cash."I just found one in my change," he says. "I feel like Charlie Bucket in Willy Wonka with his golden ticket."What do you think I should do? Cash it in for £50 prize or should I be like Clint Eastwood and hold out for a Few Dollars More?"Fifty quid seems good to me.Now, let’s have another look at my change.
