The Mets have opened a game with back-to-back homers three times in their history, all in the last 13 years:

July 12, 2007:
José Reyes & Rubén Gotay

Aug. 26, 2016:
José Reyes & Asdrubal Cabrera

June 6, 2019:
Amed Rosario & Dominic Smith

love the metsness of the jed lowrie saga

- his former agent is the GM
- no one seems to know what's wrong with him or when he will recover
- having him actually show up would probably be a downgrade

This bullpen is certainly a disaster in a half, with Mets losing in very Metsian ways.

I'm coming around to the thinking that JD Davis was a good pickup.

Weekend with #mets: The GM won't say if Jed Lowrie has a new injury, despite suggesting there is one; Brandon Nimmo now seeing neck specialists for injury team has said was merely "soreness"; and team won't reveal MRI results for Noah Syndergaard that was taken Sunday AM

The Mets have called a full-blown team meeting this afternoon -- not exactly standard operating procedure before a game. Appears to be a bigger roster shakeup than just Daniel Zamora, as well. The team has no reserves or bullpen arms listed on its clubhouse lineup card right now.

Jacob deGrom just moved into seventh place on the Mets' all-time strikeout list:

1. Tom Seaver, 2,541
2. Dwight Gooden, 1,875
3. Jerry Koosman, 1,799
4. Sid Fernandez, 1,449
5. David Cone, 1,172
6. Ron Darling, 1,148
7. Jacob deGrom, 1,109

deGrom started warming up an hour before the game bcz no one told him when it started. Great way to manage your $135 million guy.

lol

I assume ATL's later home start times (7:20) is because traffic is a horror show, esp right there on the perimeter.

I am curious (george) (slight return) (WmC), Wednesday, 19 June 2019 15:30 (four years ago) link

while it pains me to *not* completely blame mets management for something, maybe as a veteran pitcher making $135m you should be able to find out the gametime all by yourself

mookieproof, Wednesday, 19 June 2019 16:12 (four years ago) link

Callaway said Wilson will have to "battle through" some of his elbow tightness, which just seems kind of a weird approach to take for a guy who very openly says he came back too soon from the same injury the first time. pic.twitter.com/QCGbpK6tuT

Mickey Callaway told a reporter to leave the clubhouse, calling the reporter a motherfu**er multiple times.

"Don't be a smartass, motherfu**er*," Callaway said.

Jason Vargas, defending his manager, said "I'll knock you the f**k out, bro."
