i think the midfield chemistry changing to allow sissoko to gallop into legend is of a piece with the fading of any consistency of sting eriksen or alli could bring and especially in kanes absence

hard to see which jenga piece you remove, if you have to move any

two weeks pass...

i did not actually expect levy to change his style

i thought he would have to, in order to keep poch and to pay back the stadium fiasco and the lack of signings, i think he also knows now that preseason is a must

i just didnt think yknow he would actually change

looks like weve bought ndombele, early, for big bucks

godfellaz (darraghmac), Tuesday, 25 June 2019 22:01 (four years ago) link

65m doesn't buy you what it used to, and it's not that much considering, and a great signing, but yeah i didn't think levi's splash it out either

Uptown VONC (Le Bateau Ivre), Tuesday, 25 June 2019 22:03 (four years ago) link

It would be a very good price in the current market given the competition for him.

Clarke from Leeds for £8.5m would also be interesting if that goes through.

While his England teammate, Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier said: "My pace is 54 and my dribbling is 65 - it makes no sense."

lilcraigyboi (Craigo Boingo), Wednesday, 20 November 2019 09:07 (four years ago) link

Crazy thing is whilst Spurs are languishing in 14th place, because most of the other teams are also a crock of shit this season, if we'd just won the Brighton game we'd currently be 5th.

groovypanda, Wednesday, 20 November 2019 09:33 (four years ago) link

I wonder how this influences Vertonghen.

Does he stay on now?

Suggest Banshee (Hadrian VIII), Friday, 20 December 2019 11:51 (four years ago) link

guess yes

Banáná hÉireann (darraghmac), Friday, 20 December 2019 12:13 (four years ago) link

tho hes not as automatic or urgent a case imo, hes lost a few yards this summer

if jose can operate without such a high line then that pair has a year or two left, if not then jan is destined for a covering cb/lb role until his contract winds down maybe

Banáná hÉireann (darraghmac), Friday, 20 December 2019 12:17 (four years ago) link

I'm quite happy with Sanchez and Toby at CB and Vertonghen at LB. Even at LB Vertonghen is a better option that Rose or Davies, and the two Belgians together aren't pacy enough any more.

More than anything else we desperately need to sign a defensive midfielder who can complement Ndombele. Even if it's just on loan.

Matt DC, Friday, 20 December 2019 12:50 (four years ago) link

Sanchez's mistakes tend to be down to lack of experience rather than physical attributes, he desperately needs a run in the team because he could become great.

Matt DC, Friday, 20 December 2019 12:51 (four years ago) link

Jan looked chasing after Adama like when as kids my dad would jump in for a few minutes

certainly that's not sustainable, at lb

Suggest Banshee (Hadrian VIII), Friday, 20 December 2019 12:54 (four years ago) link

Matic is available

Number None, Friday, 20 December 2019 14:20 (four years ago) link

agreed that jan at lb is not going to do the job that our lb has been asked to do the past five years

whether we keep asking either of our full backs to carry so much water remains to be seen tho

Also, Bergwijn probably in for youse (deems and I agreed a fee on whatsapp earlier). He's leaving a club in disarray though, with mgmt not having ok'd him doing a medical at Spurs.

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 27 January 2020 10:08 (four years ago) link

thought psv manager admitted sulkily that hed told him go ahead

sounded like it mightve been a bit pass-agg mind

Catherine, Boner of JP Sweeney & Co (darraghmac), Monday, 27 January 2020 10:13 (four years ago) link

I was surprised he is only 22, he seems to have been around for ages. Would probably prefer Malen but he’d likely cost 3x as much.

ShariVari, Monday, 27 January 2020 10:17 (four years ago) link

The (interim) manager sulkily did, big boss man didn't tho. We're in a shambles rn and though not the best of looks I honestly can't blame the lad for fleeing the scene.

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 27 January 2020 10:17 (four years ago) link

Malen a different player (more of a striker), he'd cost you more though yeah.
