So who's UK's act this year?

Tuomas, Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:22 (four years ago) link

The UK's entry sounds like something off the last Coldplay album and gave me a migraine within the first couple of bars. Totally unremarkable.

Le Baton Rose (Turrican), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:22 (four years ago) link

It's bigger than us, it's bigger than the universe, it's bigger than the two of us!

Le Baton Rose (Turrican), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:23 (four years ago) link

Feels like a generic reality TV winner Eurovision performer, he.

Tuomas, Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:24 (four years ago) link

Better than most UK entries. The trousers were a mistake though.

Ned Caligari (Tom D.), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:24 (four years ago) link

It starts off OK but he overcooks the vocals towards the end. I would have preferred if Holly Tandy had won with her version (of the same song - yes this year's UK selection process was odd).

just another country (snoball), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:24 (four years ago) link

xp agreed it is better than recent UK entries, and it does fit in with the other Eurovision entries or at least not sound out of place.

HATRED WILL PREVAIL

YES! ICELAND DELIVERS!

Le Baton Rose (Turrican), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:28 (four years ago) link

just another country (snoball), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:29 (four years ago) link

michael keaton IS jim thirlwell IN ‘foetaljuice’ (bizarro gazzara), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:29 (four years ago) link

So, Atari Teenage Riot lives in Iceland now?

Tuomas, Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:30 (four years ago) link

Iceland caught between Rammstein and Susanne Sundfor

imago, Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:30 (four years ago) link

A pity the Virgin Prunes never got to represent Ireland though.

Ned Caligari (Tom D.), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:30 (four years ago) link

This fucking rules. This should get all the points. It has everything!

Le Baton Rose (Turrican), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:31 (four years ago) link

Maybe I will vote for Iceland but assless pants would have made that a certainty

L'assie (Euler), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:31 (four years ago) link

Digitally distorted screaming and fire, what more could you want? I feel sorry for anyone who has to follow that.

Le Baton Rose (Turrican), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:31 (four years ago) link

Still prefer Norway but that was impressive

imago, Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:32 (four years ago) link

...which, by the looks of it, is the Estonian Bon Jovi.

Le Baton Rose (Turrican), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:32 (four years ago) link

god this poor estonian bastard having to follow iceland

michael keaton IS jim thirlwell IN ‘foetaljuice’ (bizarro gazzara), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:32 (four years ago) link

This is much better than the intro lead me to think. One of the best choruses so far.

Tuomas, Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:34 (four years ago) link

Estonian cliche lyrics guitar strummer, kind of forgettable really.

just another country (snoball), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:34 (four years ago) link

Too smug to win.

Ned Caligari (Tom D.), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:35 (four years ago) link

This is Stay With Me by Sam Smith, which was already shit

imago, Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:35 (four years ago) link

xp also should have cut to the chase and not bothered with the guitar at the beginning.

just another country (snoball), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:35 (four years ago) link

young lady you are NOT leaving the house wearing that

michael keaton IS jim thirlwell IN ‘foetaljuice’ (bizarro gazzara), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:36 (four years ago) link

maura, Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:39 (four years ago) link

anyway my favorites so far are san marino, greece, and cyprus, and i look forward to hearing denmark's song in a psa

maura, Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:39 (four years ago) link

So this is like a budget version of the All Is Full of Love video?

Tuomas, Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:41 (four years ago) link

robot arms comfortably in the top five most charismatic performers yet seen on stage tonight

michael keaton IS jim thirlwell IN ‘foetaljuice’ (bizarro gazzara), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:41 (four years ago) link

this is a great scissor sisters b-side

maura, Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:42 (four years ago) link

Denmark's lyrics were corny as hell, but the song and performance were undeniably cute. Also, bonus points for the random switch from English to French for the second half of the song.

Tuomas, Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:43 (four years ago) link

Chorus of Azerbaijan's song is a bit too Maroon 5.

just another country (snoball), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:44 (four years ago) link

thanks, i hate this

maura, Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:45 (four years ago) link

The French can't bring themselves to sing a song entirely in English, but they'd be better to just sing in French.

Ned Caligari (Tom D.), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:46 (four years ago) link

The thing that strikes me the most about the French entry is that the singer is really struggling to be on pitch.

Le Baton Rose (Turrican), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:46 (four years ago) link

strong look, bad song

michael keaton IS jim thirlwell IN ‘foetaljuice’ (bizarro gazzara), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:47 (four years ago) link

It's usually the British entrants who can't sing.

Ned Caligari (Tom D.), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:47 (four years ago) link

damn french eating our lunch again, smdh

michael keaton IS jim thirlwell IN ‘foetaljuice’ (bizarro gazzara), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:48 (four years ago) link

Italy's entry also completely unremarkable. No hook whatsoever, really generic melody, not even a strong performance gimmick.

Le Baton Rose (Turrican), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:49 (four years ago) link

First reference to Jackie Chan in Eurovision from the Italian entry?

just another country (snoball), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:50 (four years ago) link

At least it's in Italian.

Ned Caligari (Tom D.), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:50 (four years ago) link

Okay, Italy's song is surprisingly strong, and the lyrics are kinda too personal for something like this?

Tuomas, Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:50 (four years ago) link

xpost:

Yes, there is that!

Le Baton Rose (Turrican), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:51 (four years ago) link

strong Shaggy vibes

Siegbran, Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:51 (four years ago) link

The audience are only half-heartedly into this clapping gimmick.

just another country (snoball), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:52 (four years ago) link

Serbiohead

imago, Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:53 (four years ago) link

michael keaton IS jim thirlwell IN ‘foetaljuice’ (bizarro gazzara), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:53 (four years ago) link

Well, there goes the wax out of my ears! Thanx! #SRB

Le Baton Rose (Turrican), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:53 (four years ago) link

These Eastern Europeans can always sing like fuck tbf.

Ned Caligari (Tom D.), Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:54 (four years ago) link
