I must have ducked out somewhere--I thought the PGA was always the last major on the calendar.

i'm predicting Kevin Nealon takes over the Dorf on Golf franchise

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 16 May 2019 20:31 (four years ago) link

XP
They've rejigged the schedule so that the US tour ending FedEx playoffs finish in August before the start of the NFL season and so that the PGA doesn't clash with Olympic golf every four years so from now on it's
April - masters
May - PGA
June - US Open
July - Open

Lol Rory starts his day double, bogey, double, birdie, par, bogey +5 for the day thru six holes and +7 for the tourney.

DJ 4 birdies in 6 holes , -4 in second place behind Brooks who plays in the afternoon wave.
Danny Lee was in second but has dropped five shots thru 11 holes.

oscar bravo, Friday, 17 May 2019 13:57 (four years ago) link

I really want to like Patrick Cantlay cos his back story is so compelling but man is he irritating to watch, so slow.

oscar bravo, Friday, 17 May 2019 13:59 (four years ago) link

Another birdie for DJ. Brooks and DJ duel would be fun, the loser being the one who makes an expression first.

oscar bravo, Friday, 17 May 2019 14:03 (four years ago) link

Lol no majors between August and March is fucked up man

xyzzzz__, Friday, 17 May 2019 14:16 (four years ago) link

Beemer! birdies 5 of the last 6 to probably make the cut. amazing around that course.

another good round from spieth. maybe he's back?

oscar bravo, Friday, 17 May 2019 17:16 (four years ago) link

he was never gone!

imago, Friday, 17 May 2019 17:20 (four years ago) link

maybe a little gone

imago, Friday, 17 May 2019 17:20 (four years ago) link

DJ is my big irrational dislike so it has distressed me to learn he's doing well

imago, Friday, 17 May 2019 17:21 (four years ago) link

DJ played in the saudi event this year so that's a reason.

brooks starts birdie, birdie and strolls about with the air of a man who is bulletproof.

oscar bravo, Friday, 17 May 2019 18:38 (four years ago) link

kinda glad tiger isnt going to make the cut so we wont have to watch him play mid golf all weekend whilst the actual contenders get no camera time

but I can't let Trae do it I got Huerter on my mind (Spottie), Friday, 17 May 2019 21:25 (four years ago) link

damn fleetwood 3 boges on the back 9 i was pulling for him to put heat on brooks

lowest 36 hole score in majors history

maybe i started that 'how many majors will spieth win' thread for....the wrong person

mind u, spieth is *second* in this. but also nowhere

imago, Friday, 17 May 2019 22:54 (four years ago) link

he went deep into the funk and never really recovered

but I can't let Trae do it I got Huerter on my mind (Spottie), Friday, 17 May 2019 22:55 (four years ago) link

he's tied second in this tournament!!

imago, Friday, 17 May 2019 23:00 (four years ago) link

i just mean generally. he's looking pretty good this weekend for sure! he just seemed so primed to make a run at quite a few majors a few years back. hard to sustain dominance

but I can't let Trae do it I got Huerter on my mind (Spottie), Friday, 17 May 2019 23:03 (four years ago) link

Yeah Spieth better watch it or he'll end up like Rory.

i always forget how irritating i find DJ's beard

Lol, still leading by two with not many holes left

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 19 May 2019 22:05 (four years ago) link

DJ screwed the pooch

but I can't let Trae do it I got Huerter on my mind (Spottie), Sunday, 19 May 2019 22:07 (four years ago) link

DJ coulda won this if he just parted out 16-18.

Even as it stands with Brooks errant drive a double bogey is in play for the tie

but I can't let Trae do it I got Huerter on my mind (Spottie), Sunday, 19 May 2019 22:35 (four years ago) link

Parred*

Catching up with the first round of the US Women's Open. Course seems p quirky especially the Greens, some ridiculously severe false fronts.

Also completely mind blown by the fact that the player in 2nd place after round one Esther Henseleit last official handicap before she turned pro was +7.1 !!!!! Imagine having to add 7 shots to your score after every round as an amateur!

oscar bravo, Friday, 31 May 2019 08:36 (four years ago) link

Also lol at the rumoured USGAing of pebble Beach for the upcoming mens US Open. Apparently they have narrowed the fairways so much that on one of the holes a fairway bunker is now located 35 yards into the rough!

oscar bravo, Friday, 31 May 2019 08:46 (four years ago) link

US Open at Pebble Beach is underway. Should be some good scoring in this one.

big city slam (Spottie), Thursday, 13 June 2019 16:38 (four years ago) link

course is playing p soft today, greens holding, think it'll dry out by the weekend and be really tough.
mcginley with the great stat that rory has never won a tournament with a winning score of worse than -12. which suggests he can't win on really tough tracks. rahm and rickie going well greens look v smooth for pebble

oscar bravo, Thursday, 13 June 2019 17:13 (four years ago) link

Rickie leading. I wouldn't begrudge either he or tangent if he got a major but his hair really bothers me. I know it some charity mullet thing to do with his foundation but yeesh.

oscar bravo, Thursday, 13 June 2019 20:29 (four years ago) link

tiger straight up snap hooked that 8 iron. hit a cart path and ended up w double bogey.

big city slam (Spottie), Thursday, 13 June 2019 22:27 (four years ago) link

This could get spicy

Woodland creature in the rough

can't believe Rose is still in the mix

brownie, Monday, 17 June 2019 00:18 (four years ago) link

Weird week for rose but all he has to do is string together a couple holes and he could take this

big city slam (Spottie), Monday, 17 June 2019 00:19 (four years ago) link

Or not

big city slam (Spottie), Monday, 17 June 2019 00:36 (four years ago) link

one month passes...

Lol Rory. Iron off the opening tee out of bounds. 3 off the tee into the left rough, 4th shot pulled into into left rough, unplayable penalty drop. Now playing his sixth shot.

oscar bravo, Thursday, 18 July 2019 09:20 (four years ago) link

Good pitch. 7 feet left for an opening triple bogey.

oscar bravo, Thursday, 18 July 2019 09:21 (four years ago) link

Missed. Quad City.

oscar bravo, Thursday, 18 July 2019 09:24 (four years ago) link

I like Rory but it will never not be hilarious when the media decides to concentrate all its energies on one athlete or team only for them to fall flat on their faces at the first hurdle - sometimes literally.

Orpheus Knutt (Tom D.), Thursday, 18 July 2019 09:31 (four years ago) link

Lol what a wasteman

xyzzzz__, Thursday, 18 July 2019 10:18 (four years ago) link

Duval matched Rory's eight and followed it with a... THIRTEEN? Though I don't trust my score app as it told me Garcia had eagled for a share of the lead a while ago and that wasn't true.

Michael Jones, Thursday, 18 July 2019 11:27 (four years ago) link

Rory with the 4 putt at the 16th including 3 from less than 3 feet.
Course seems p volatile, birdies available but doubles and triples aplenty also.

Nice to see Lowry leading and Kiradech with a bogey free 68.
Koepka koepkaing his way round like it's a Monday evening knockabout with friends.
Not convinced Jordan can keep it out of the long stuff from the tee enough for the week but his putting and pitching game is back to his stellar best, going well at the moment.

oscar bravo, Thursday, 18 July 2019 14:00 (four years ago) link

Rory carves it at 18 and finishes with a triple. 79 . +8. Jesus.
