How does one follow-up the multi-million unit shifting Jagged Little Pill? With an overlong, overstuffed, over-wordy, far less accessible record that probably wasn't a good idea in a commercial sense, and not all of it hits the mark, and some of the lyrics are more than a bit silly. However, I'm glad that she made this record. Love 'Baba', 'Thank U', 'That I Would Be Good', 'UR', 'I Was Hoping', 'One' and 'Unsent' ...

...also, it's the last Alanis album I'll go anywhere near after Under Rug Swept bored the shit out of me.

i adore this album btw

like just for instance every verse of "unsent" starts off in about the corniest way imaginable and then winds up being extremely real, and that's sort of a microcosm of this album as a whole

I guess I should hear this album but I'm still haunted many years later by Alfred's suggestion that "you oughta know" has a part where she sings about going down on FLEA in a theater.
