xp yeah i agree with you aimless. that's a warren quote from the hayes show today. i could only think "i think if there is one, i don't think this one should be one," but mainly because i see trump and his bros as actually v dangerous tho clownlike.

Real estate developers in the 1980’s & 1990’s, more than 30 years ago, were entitled to massive write offs and depreciation which would, if one was actively building, show losses and tax losses in almost all cases. Much was non monetary. Sometimes considered “tax shelter,” ......

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 8, 2019

....you would get it by building, or even buying. You always wanted to show losses for tax purposes....almost all real estate developers did - and often re-negotiate with banks, it was sport. Additionally, the very old information put out is a highly inaccurate Fake News hit job!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 8, 2019

'yeah i committed tax fraud but everyone was doing it and anyway the story is all lies kthxbye'

Why would someone want to be president of the government they disdain paying taxes to? Stupid

Trϵϵship, Wednesday, 8 May 2019 13:04 (five years ago) link

Because the scope of his thinking is limited to 'guess I'll take me another bite of that there sammich'.

Did anyone actually listen to McConnell’s recent senate speech (the “case closed” one)?

The way he actually speaks the words is incredibly evil. Mitch McConnell is an evil fuck. “They’re grieving. (Long pause). They’re grieving.” he says, describing the democrats

Just listened to The Daily segment on the taxes, recorded before trump’s tweets, and they asked about whether or not it was possible that all the losses were just a very clever accounting trick.

The reporters answered that it could be plausibly be an accounting trick if the losses were only in the low millions, but that the losses (in the billions) were orders of magnitude larger and could only be the result of real, massive losses of money

I...worked on this story for a year...and...he just...he tweeted it out.

you can tell how much his business was booming by the fact that he lost more money than any other US taxpayer

Duh. You get more money from your dad.

I never understand why people are impoverished. You just ask dad for money, duh

Oh, you meant why he keeps telling everybody exactly how bad he sucks. He does that because his supporters don’t care how he got his money. I thought you meant why he kept going bankrupt throughout his life

It does sincerely matter to me to know exactly how much of a charlatan the president of my country is. The value of a piece of information is not tied to how much it affects someone's approval ratings IMO.

When given the chance to review the Mueller report before it was publicly released, the White House and the president’s lawyers declined to assert Executive Privilege over any part of it. Once publicly released, it lost any privileged character—the cat is out of the bag. https://t.co/SzcDYhcBNm

I've forwarded this theory before but I think for his most ardent fans, Trump has taken on the nature of a GTA avatar. People are living vicariously through his shittiness, watching him sink to depths they themselves could scarcely even imagine (the dude has pissed away more money than I'll see in a lifetime!) and getting away with every last bit of it. He's like a folk hero for people who see no value in life or society.

here is what his tv friends think:

The hosts of “Fox and Friends” on Wednesday weighed in on a blockbuster New York Times article on Trump’s old tax returns — reporting that showed Trump lost $1 billion over the course of a decade.

The reaction on the Fox couch? Well, it actually makes Trump look good.

“They realize he’s a billionaire,”Ainsley Earhardt said of voters’ possible reaction to the story. “He was campaigning on the trail with his plane behind him that’s as big as a Delta jet, with his name on it. We can’t even fathom that kind of money. So I’m sure — if you have that kind of money you look at tax laws. You buy things to take a loss so that you make more the next year. But that’s not how most of us think.”

She added: “If anything, you read this and you’re like, wow, it’s pretty impressive all the things he has done in his life. It’s beyond what most of could ever achieve.”
