yessir and difficult to find except on those absurdly overpriced (and overrated imo) claremont originals comps

i hate on that label but i have to admit each of those comps has turned me on to at least one all time bomb ... though imo at least 75% of the obscurities on those comps should have stayed obscure

the late great, Friday, 3 May 2019 11:16 (four years ago) link

well difficult to find on 12" anyway

the late great, Friday, 3 May 2019 11:20 (four years ago) link

Ha! I've got all 10 on CD.

75% is a little harsh

groovypanda, Friday, 3 May 2019 11:28 (four years ago) link

wow dude those are worth a lot of money! my favorite, the sean p one, is going for like $80 on discogs.

i think some of them are better than others. i like the ones by sean p, lexx, burgess & green, and rong music a lot more than the rest. but i'm not really hardcore balearic so there you go

the late great, Friday, 3 May 2019 11:38 (four years ago) link

the moonboots one is about half bangers i think (sth national, esposito, band aid, radio band, flayer), but kind of agree about the rest

xp

dogs, Friday, 3 May 2019 11:49 (four years ago) link

oh yeah moonboots is good too

i'm probably just being crazy harsh because crazy $$$

the late great, Friday, 3 May 2019 12:06 (four years ago) link

I dont really think any of the originals are that solid but they do always have 3-6 great tracks a piece on em

brimstead, Friday, 3 May 2019 19:26 (four years ago) link

honestly will forever be in debt to the series for introducing me to flayer, escape from NY's "fire in my heart" and letta's "nomalizo"

we got fire in my heart and flayer represses, now we need nomalizo on 12"

the late great, Friday, 3 May 2019 19:31 (four years ago) link

aware there was a recent edit but not super crazy about it, what do you all think?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWdTlQ7S8j8

the late great, Friday, 3 May 2019 19:35 (four years ago) link

That Fire In My Heart tune is amazing. Such an intense, dramatic beat.

FernandoHierro, Friday, 3 May 2019 19:36 (four years ago) link

Other favourites would be

Loui$ - Pink Footpath
Cube - Somebody Told Me (in fact most of the Joylon/Matthew Burgess one)
Wide Boy Awake - Slang Teacher
King Errisson - Space Queen
A Band Called O - Coasting
Savanna Silver Band - Take A Step

Last week's Dream Chimney mix from Aihki is A+++

Reminds me of their old Cosmixes

I mentioned in Music From Memory thread but better to give a heads up here maybe.

This shop in NYC is incredible. I rely on them to turn me on to new stuff. Their instagram is very useful.

Holy crap just barely got one before they sold out. Better be good for $50 US! Everything about it sounds up my alley.

Evan, Monday, 17 June 2019 12:15 (four years ago) link

dang, when i clicked there were 17 left, 16 after I bought one. these went quick.

brotherlovesdub, Monday, 17 June 2019 16:17 (four years ago) link

The last 10 must have sold within 5-10 minutes it was crazy.

Evan, Monday, 17 June 2019 16:28 (four years ago) link

Yowza!

brimstead, Monday, 17 June 2019 16:40 (four years ago) link

The page now shows 29 copies available. I feel like artists do this on purpose to get people to order quickly. If either of these guys ever complain about streaming royalties after charging $55 for 20mins of music, they can die in a fire.

brotherlovesdub, Monday, 17 June 2019 21:59 (four years ago) link

A chunk of that is for shipping though. Looking at vinyl prices, £30 for a small press issue doesn't seem that extravagant.

groovypanda, Tuesday, 18 June 2019 07:59 (four years ago) link

They better not be lying about the total pressing too. This is the third time I’ve been had by intentionally misleading bandcamp “x copies left” slimy sales tactics. The other two times my fav store Commend (mentioned earlier) had them in stock a week after they “sold out” on bandcamp. It’s a bit shitty to drive sales by going “well yeah technically this particular box has 20 copies left in it so it’s not a lie”

errr

Paul Ponzi, Tuesday, 18 June 2019 11:49 (four years ago) link

Sure, $30 for a small press is fine, and yeah, the shipping does make it much worse, but what are the options? You can only buy this if you agree to the shipping fees, so shipping is part of the price of this item. This won't be for sale in my (or your) local shop.

brotherlovesdub, Tuesday, 18 June 2019 16:52 (four years ago) link

I hope not, or I'll feel like even more of a sucker.

The Sad About The Times compilation on Anthology is excellent and well worth checking out for fans of melancholic, 70s FM folk rock

Vinyl Factory very wrongly tagged that comp as Yacht Rock so I had to quickly adjust my expectations when I started listening.

That Gumba Fire comp from last year sounding absolutely fantastic out the garden in this hot weather

Thanks for the heads up on Pilotwings, groovypanda! After that I checked out the Molitor 71 EP and it's great so far.

Not that those are all nature themed, but anything that fits in with the vibe

Evan, Monday, 10 February 2020 16:26 (four years ago) link

Is this a spotify list and can it be shared?

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Monday, 10 February 2020 16:37 (four years ago) link

It is not, but it can become one! Not sure if all of that is on Spotify.

That was actually a back up plan if I was unable to connect the playlist from my iphone to whatever system will be there.

Evan, Monday, 10 February 2020 16:41 (four years ago) link

It does all mix very nicely when shuffled
