not me, I still think Norm is funny and I liked his Netflix show

I give him a bit of a pass because he's pretty open about calling his views 'underdeveloped' and he avoids getting political in his comedy, but yeah it's kind of shitty. Should've figured as soon as I saw stuff like this

Scripture. Faith. Grace. Christ, Glory of God. Smart man says nothing is a miracle. I say everything is.

it’s like cool, man, yeah. but it just never ever stops there, does it?

brainworms don't care how fully developed your views are

I think you can add Dana Carvey to that list too

didn't know about Sandler, all I can see is he donated once to Rudy Guiliani? I don't know if he's a "prominent Hollywood Republican" in the same way as say, Dennis Miller

btw these guys are right about one thing, SNL should stop making everything about Trump because it's not really funny or clever and treating him like a cartoon character (who you were more than happy to have on as a host) only normalizes this piece of shit further

Shawn Mendes is really skilled at smiling while singing.

I've come to view Alec Baldwin's Trump impression as God's punishment on our country, we deserve it

it is truly salt in the wound

finally a tribute to Chris Farley in song

I figured we were close to everyone realizing that he wasn't that funny, just fat and loud, but here we are

Neat challop

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 5 May 2019 10:01 (four years ago) link

That Clothes/Holes thing was one of the worst songs they have ever done.

I really liked Romano Tours and Rectix. I'm surprised no one had done a rectix type sketch before.

When the pic of Shawn Mendez popped up before the performance I thought it was a glam shot of Colin Jost.

Yerac, Sunday, 5 May 2019 16:13 (four years ago) link

I realized during the tedious Sandler Reunion thing that I have only seen three Adam Sandler movies (Punch Drunk, 50 first dates and Wedding Singer).

Yerac, Sunday, 5 May 2019 16:15 (four years ago) link

Mike Judge is, afaict, sort of a libertarian like the South Park guys, but I'm pretty confident that neither of them is remotely pro Trump or necessarily even Republican. Doesn't necessarily make anything better, but it could be worse.

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 5 May 2019 16:39 (four years ago) link

Norm has always been a reactionary! He is funny though.

:∵·∴·∵: (crüt), Sunday, 5 May 2019 16:54 (four years ago) link

Norm thinks George Will is an intellectual lol

:∵·∴·∵: (crüt), Sunday, 5 May 2019 16:54 (four years ago) link

Rectix was kinda funny--the medical disclaimer that included "may change the power dynamic in your relationship" was a nice touch--and the Snapchat bit was a funny premise that they blew once they let the Sandler and Bennett characters in on the joke, but this was purely one of those "lets indulge a former cast member" episodes.

Timothée Charalambides (cryptosicko), Sunday, 5 May 2019 16:55 (four years ago) link

I liked the rectix one because as soon as he pulled out the "pill" all the future jokes clicked into place and I couldn't stop giggling.

McKinnon's Elizabeth Warren is very good.

that's fair. he def seems like a "free speech" guy, but apparently he was liking a bunch of Ben Shapiro tweets last fall. which, fucking gross. but hey he's multi-millionaire white guy from texas in his 50s so i guess i shouldn't be shocked.

I keep thinking about the Romano Italy tours sketch. So great.

I figured we were close to everyone realizing that he wasn't that funny, just fat and loud, but here we are

My junior year in high school we took a choir trip to a festival in Chicago and one of the outings was a night out at Second City. It was very enjoyable/hilarious but I made a particular note of two ridiculously funny cast members in the hope that I'd one day see their names pop up again and I could say "I saw them back when"

The next year, Tim Meadows and Chris Farley were both SNL cast members. I saw them back when.

Arugula Raccoon (DJP), Sunday, 5 May 2019 21:53 (four years ago) link

The Wrigley Field security guards sketch! I saw that cast, too!

It was funny because you'd see Second City, make note of the hilarious cast members, and then a few weeks later on Chicago TV it'd be, "Hey, there's that hilarious guy Steve Carell...in...a Brown's Chicken ad...?" or "Cool, it's Tim Meadows!...in a McDonald's commercial?" Obviously they needed whatever work they could get, but it was odd to see these hilarious performers play it straight in commercials.

hahaha i was watching that holes clothes thing the whole time like "how is this even on tv? is there a punchline?"

nope, just the worst sketch in yeeeears!

It was so terrible and it was on right before the amazing Romano Tours. Someone really messed up.

Yerac, Monday, 6 May 2019 15:42 (four years ago) link

I had to question why I ever thought Bennet or Mooney were ever funny

the public eating of beans (Sparkle Motion), Monday, 6 May 2019 15:56 (four years ago) link

the Holes thing feels very South Park

The Wrigley Field security guards sketch! I saw that cast, too!

I specifically remember that sketch and Farley's Dolphin Boy sketch, mostly because of the song he sang while squirting water out of a prosthetic blowhole. I assume the program where I circled their names is somewhere in my parents' house still among my stuff.

Arugula Raccoon (DJP), Monday, 6 May 2019 16:17 (four years ago) link

I was dreading watching this because when I rarely if ever find Sandler's movies funny. However, this was actually one of the best episodes of the season. Roman's Tours and Rectix were classic and I really enjoyed his tribute to Farley.

akm, Friday, 10 May 2019 19:56 (four years ago) link

Yeah Roman's Tours and Rectix both felt really really early 90s to me, loved them both. I will typically defend Mooney more than most but, yeah, the "Holes" thing was one of the worst skits of an already pretty bad season.

i like the new tradition of che and jost writing jokes for each other at the end of the season

akm, Sunday, 19 May 2019 15:06 (four years ago) link

the View sketch was a timing mess; there was this weird sustained silence near the end where I couldn't tell WTF was going on.

honestly I wish I time travel and stop "Lazy Sunday" from happening, these rap skits need to stop

ok but can alec baldwin be retired first ugh

Believe or not, I hadn't seen this until yesterday. Michael told me that he and Belushi smoked some of Tom Davis' weed before going on. And I have the jacket O'D's wearing. (Thanks to @Franksantopadre and Kliph Nesteroff @ClassicShowbiz for the find.) https://t.co/P7Hwn9oQca
