I like pizza I like cake
i like mashed po-tayyy-toes
i don't like eating fish sticks
i don't like old meatloaf
what we do is secret, secret

For me - 'Can't Hardly Wait' by The Replacements will always have the line in my head - Jesus rides beside me - He never imbibes and he smokes

Cause the walls start shaking
The earth was quaking
My mind was aching
I really lost my bacon

my brother's interpretation of Pixies' "Gigantic" has always stayed in my head:

My dick's GIGAAAANTIC

For some reason every time I sing the "Different Strokes" theme song I sing, "A man is born, he's a man of steel".

For some reason it happens a lot with The Beatles

We all live in a yellow submarine
A purple jellybean, (yelling) A TUB OF MARGARINE!

also:

I wanna hold your hand,
your hand, your hand, your hand...
(Because of that stupid joke: what did one boy octopus say to the girl octopus? I wanna hold your hand, your hand, your hand, your hand...)

Embarrassing, but for We Will Rock You, in my head I always sing:

"We will, we will
F#ck you, Suck you, stick it right up you!"

We used to sing it in school sports. Oh Australian childhood. I miss you.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 12 June 2009 03:25 (fourteen years ago) link

Hahah that, and "Am I ever gonna see your face again? (no way, get fucked, fuck off!")

We used to all get in trouble at school socials when that song came on.

I do this all the time:

Picking up the pieces
Half alive in a nine 'til five
Bacon eyes

("swamp thing")

Jesus loves the little children,
All the little children of the world...
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans white with foam

I dunno, the two just sort of merge in my brain. And I don't particularly like either song. It's just one of those weird earworms that shows up in my head some mornings

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 12 June 2009 05:34 (fourteen years ago) link

xxpost: Trayce, when I was about 13 my 16yo cousin from Morwell came up to visit me, and we went to a Saturday night disco together. The DJ played "Am I Ever Gonna See your Face Again", everyone was dancing. I turn around and my cousin is STANDING ON A CHAIR, headbanging with her fist pumping in the air. I thinking, Omg wtf are you doing? After the song finished she said, " I don't get it. No-one stood on their chair! That's what everyone does when they play that song in Morwell." I was too young to know that I should have replied, "Um yeah. Because they're all BOGANS." Good times.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 12 June 2009 05:39 (fourteen years ago) link

Bahaahah! Thats so awesome :D

I grew up in a bogany town in NSW, but I dont remember anyone standing on chairs, heh =) They would have all headbanged and whatever though - this was a school where the school dances usually played shit like the Angels, Bon Jovi and Europe ughhh.

It's the eye of the tuber
It's the thrill of the fries
dipped in ketchup as I put them in my mow-ow-owth
it's the yam on the counter
with its roots growing out
that gave me the eye-dea ... eye of the tuber

I've been singing Television's Torn Curtain in the shower lately, except the lyrics were "porrrn...squirt-ain". See how clever I am?

what u arrestin me for, innit (╓abies), Saturday, 13 June 2009 00:42 (fourteen years ago) link

xxpost: Tuomas, a 'bogan' is a slang term, basically the Australian version of white trash. Dunno if that translates. Lower middle class if you want to get down to nuts and bolts. Guys wear mullets, skinny jeans, flannel shirts and metal t-shirts. Girls have bad bleach jobs or bad perms, too-tight clothes, blue mascara and fight each other in broad daylight.
At least that's how they were in my town. Could be different now, I've been gone for a while.

VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 13 June 2009 02:08 (fourteen years ago) link

It's not a song lyric specifically, but every time I hear the 'IAEA' mentioned on the news, I have to sing "EEEE EYE EEE EYE OHHHH". Really loud. Yes. I am a child.

VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 13 June 2009 02:10 (fourteen years ago) link

Also I didn't know what came after 'Frosty the Snowman' so just sang (and still do) "Frosty the Snowman... is a snowman made of snow"

There's a theme to mine....

Joni, "Harry's House / Centerpiece"

The more I’m with you, pretty baby
The more I feel my love increase
I’m building all my dreams around you
Our happiness will never cease
’cause nothing’s any good without you
BABY, YOU'RE MY CENTIPEDE

I used to think that Billy Joel's "For the Longest Time" was a first person confessional to "Father Longenstein." Raised Catholic, lol.
