Has anyone else seen a small segment of Black Feminist Twitter getting mad at Lizzo because she trademarked the lyric "I did a DNA test and found out I'm 100% that bitch", which came from a random person's 2017 tweet then got turned into a meme, which is how Lizzo saw it and where she lifted it from (and apparently gave credit back to when asked about it) but didn't give credit back to the woman who originally tweeted it because... Lizzo didn't know this woman existed when she wrote the song?

Glastonbury set was great but she needs a band behind her really, she's a fantastic live performer but the sound was slightly off, everything that wasn't her voice was too quiet.

Which really neatly sums up the fetishistic gaze behind a lot of her popularity quite nicely

Stan culture makes everything kind of annoying like when someone wears a weird outfit and Twitter is like THIS IS ICONIC ABSOLUTE LEGEND and then no one remembers a day later

but in terms of the backlash to Lizzo her approach was her approach before all this I don't see it as calculated

i didn't have an opinion on Lizzo at all, i don't know if this is her thing, but i think anyone whose positive attitude inevitably works to draw the attention back to themselves raises red flags. there are a ton of celebs (definitely not all) along these lines who are beloved but whose narcissism is in full bloom at all times.

the Postmates thing really bothered me at the time, how you treat service workers is 100% the biggest tell about a person (idc if that means I'm doing the I always thought she was bad news thing, it's been proven right so many times in my personal life)

I really don't have any patience for someone who sics a mob of people on somebody over something really inconsequential. like, sure, in some cases it might be warranted, but over mundane bullshit, it's just a form of self-gratification, to 'dominate' and 'defeat' somebody publicly

fun story I have a friend who moved to Detroit about 10 years ago who actually met Lizzo on a dating app. obviously she wasn't famous back then but I remember him telling me about her, like she sent him a bunch of bedroom recordings and videos. I remember watching some of them! clearly she was talented but it blew my mind to see her become actually famous a couple years later. unfortunately they didn't really jive so they stopped talking after a couple of dates. feel like I should check in and see if she ever made him get freaky with a banana or whatever.
