in 20 years there's going to be a lot of squinting at his actual stats. "but he played so hard and he really cared!"

i think russ is a great regular season player. it's hard to deny his impact on games night in and night out for the reasons you joke about... his MVP season especially i think the praise was justified, he carried a pretty sorry team just by force of will. but all that same stuff makes him a particularly frustrating playoff player when paired with the... realities of his game.

he did average 23-6-6 on 43% shooting in the playoffs the one year they made the finals to his credit
