xp you're posting in the switch thread where the correct way to do it is gyro instead of stick for Y-axis

I've gotten weirdly so good at Tetris 99
I said "fuck it" and stopped trying to learn T-spins and just started playing with good garbage technique and I've come in 1st four times this past week.

I was happy to see that they changed the scoring for the 2nd Tetris 99 tournament; unfortunately I didn't realize it was even happening until the end of the 2nd day. :(
Also, Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight finally went on sale, so I picked it up last night. Enjoying it very much so far.

i now have more hours on tetris than i do on botw + mario combined O_o
found this simple t-spin triple setup that helped me finally wrap my mind around them after a long time of mostly non-understanding (keep an eye on the pieces on the left, everything else is just filling in the gaps)

OK I have started opening my Tetris games with a T-triple set-up and you know what? sure. It's fine. Thank you.
What is annoying is end-game... there is no reallll logic to what pieces will flip across the landscape to their intended location, and 90% of my late-game deaths are the result of me trying to flip and important piece westward and having it run aground

Played a bit of Cuphead, it's like an adorable, beautifully designed Contra! I think I need to remap the controls, though, since it's set up to be pretty cramp-tastic

That company seems to have taken a turn for the, well, turn-based. I loved the Metroidvania ones, but didn't buy the last one. Will look into this one.

Had no idea!Been playing a bit more of Cuphead, which has been a blast. The fights really mess with you. I was attacking a slot machine, and not only was I unclear if and how I was damaging it, every time I died and thought I got a bead on it for next time, its attack would change up! Sneaky.

Dark Souls for $28 or katamari reroll for $21? Ive not played either, and I've saved the island express.

ok, played it for the first time and, well, this game is pretty weird. I could barely figure out the tutorial. I'm going to set it aside for now and go back to cuphead though.

Ha. But I know what to *do* in Cuphead! I literally can't figure out the tutorial of Katamari. Like, the actual controls on my Pro. For example, when I'm supposed to press r (I think) to jump, I'm not sure if I'm actually jumping. Or when I think I'm supposed to press both sticks down to quick turn, it ... doesn't do anything? I literally can't tell! These are just the empty room instructions, fwiw. I played the actual 10cm tutorial level and that worked out ok, but I'm worried I will need those other controls at some point. (Same with Cuphead, btw, doing OK at the start but can't tell if I'm not beating the slot machine level because I'm not using something I'm supposed to use or just ... not beating it. I think the latter! I can't jump through the stupid bouncing yellow balls right).

Currently taking a very brief break on Zelda, btw, for anyone wondering! Then I'll get camel and fire mountain monster. I have the master sword and everything else I want/need, I think.

I got a little carried away with the latest sale and picked up Katamari, Rocket League and Disgaea 5.
This is my first time playing a Disgaea game, I've only played a small handful of tactical RPGs, but about 10 hours in and this is pretty fun so far.
― cwkiii, Sunday, 28 April 2019 18:24 (four years ago) link
katamari switch is, weirdly, buggy as fuck and the controls are particularly wonky... of course, i'm aware the wonky controls are part of the gameplay but they're especially stubborn and prone to getting you stuck in corners.that said, i beat it and i suppose i'd recommend it. It's katamari!
― Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Friday, 3 May 2019 22:30 (four years ago) link
I could have sworn when it was released I saw a whole bunch of reviews recommending remapping the controls or something. Anyway, good to know it wasn't just me!
