tbf I'm not sure the extremely fragmented scenes help the actors much either.

I guess some of the really strong actors had other shit to do so weren't around long, eg Ciaran Hinds or Bean.

Bean was quite good in this episode playing Euron and two of the prostitutes.

The Kingslayer is one of the leads and Coster-Waldau is excellent in the role, but I don't think there's as much subtlety in his performance as Lena H's.

i actually kinda liked dillane as stannis. he was so dour that it was funny.

Every time I think of anything related to Stannis/Shireen/Melisandre I get a headache, I mean, Euron is the worst but at least he's quotable. I cannot remember a single word that Stannis uttered and am happy about that

I gotta give to Joffrey one of my favourite laughs in the series. "I hear that Stannis never smiles." *pulls out his sword about four inches* "I'll give him a red smile. From ear to ear."

My favorite voices on the show: Roose Bolton, Beric Dondarrion.

Couldn’t care less about Daenerys but something about Jorah confessing his undying love and devotion toward her makes me emotional

Jorah was intriguing in the first season but has become probably the most tediously one-note character in the whole show, even if the actor is good. There are characters like Tyrion or Bronn or the Hound where you feel yourself internally cheering whenever they appear on screen, and he's at the other end of the spectrum for me, just an enthusiasm drain. (See also Jaqen, Missandei & Grey Worm, frankly Theon at this point).

I just can’t forgive Bronn for his crimes against the pop charts in the 1990s, or Littlefinger for that wandering accent. Robert Barathian has the best past life, having been a Full Monty stripper.

Considering the limitations coming from the writing, I feel most of the actors in the main roles have given performances ranging from decent enough to excellent, except for Harington, Clarke and the dude playing Euron (Pilou Asbæk). I've no problem believing Asbæk is a good actor, but his performance belons to Pirates of Caribbean, not this series. (Though I guess part of the blame for that goes to the showrunners as well, as I can't imagine he chose this approach to the role all by himself.) And Harington and Clarke are just dull and wooden, which is particularly unfortunate given that Jon and Daenerys become the two biggest characters by now. With Harington it doesn't of course help that Jon Snow is a dull character begin with, being the only classic fantasy hero in a show that otherwise tries to avoid that stereotype.

Can't forget Asbæk in the Danish historical drama '1864' where he plays a landowner who has sex with a cow.

I never had a problem with that. Littlefinger’s a slippery, shifty guy. Why should his accent be any different?

I didn't think anything of him. He has one expression on his face the entire series. The only interesting thing about him/his character is the whole "he's good at fucking" note

Awful fan service (for awful fans) as hardly anything of note happened and the big bad was absent once again. Weren't there five (maybe longer) episodes initially planned for s8? Felt like they padded the first one out into two.
