so that cut of her crying and hugging Ridley’s character is repurposed from the post-Han Solo death resolution, presumably

obviously Palpatine’s remains fell to the planet with the rest of the death star mk. 2 debris and he’s grafted himself a new body out of ewok parts

The line about how they’re never really gone when they die makes me think palpatine might return but it would be as a force ghost.

We’ve only had benevolent force ghosts to date but a naughty trickster like palps, not yet.

For the fifth goddamn time in a row now I have to ask: when the fuck is Lumpy joining the action? Christmas special was such a goddamn tease, I swear...

I really thought TLJ was just OK but the endless whining about it from both plot pedants and sexist jerks makes me wish I liked it more

it was really good imo

mostly due to driver and the luke arc

the camera work, new take on force cave introspection, and Yoda dialogue sold TLJ and lots of bits were extra gravy

yeah after reading Seveneves I remember thinking "oh shit, that means the forest moon of Endor was probably obliterated by Death Star II debris, bright side they could do a Jurassic Park reboot where future Endorians recreate Ewoks from ancient DNA and they run amok and kill everyone"

I hate Star Wars mania passionately and thought Ep VIII was mostly good

Honestly, though, how much fun would the discussion be if they were all unimpeachably amazing

the worst thing bout star wars now is feverishly hot takes on what scalded star wars bros will take issue with

just imagining the collective groans in the cinema when we get to the Rey vs. TIE Fighter bullfighting in the desert sequence and she completely whiffs with the lightsaber

^^ This is why I've seen all the recent SW and Marvel things at smaller theatres out in the suburbs or someehing, usually days or a week after the films open. Black Panther is a recent exception. I can't deal with the vocal uber fans "awwww"-ing every time a character dies or "wooohooo" -ing whenever someone pops up on onscreen. No, I don't "hate fun" but I really hate overtly vocal expressions of fandom. Makes me cringe. Cosplayers as well.
