1. Man City 94
2. Liverpool 94
3. Spurs 76
4. Chelsea 74
5. Arsenal 74
6. Man U 71
7. Wolves 55
8. Watford 54

Prior to the Southampton game, 538 were predicting MCFC94-LFC93 - effectively status quo, both sides finishing W4D2. Now they're predicting LFC finishing W5L1. I mean, I know it's just their statistical model that has fractions of wins/draws/losses tipping the integer points value one way or the other, but it's an odd takeaway from Friday night to have Liverpool now winning a game they were previously expected to draw, but losing the other. (Or maybe not).

Also sod off with EFC 10th, don't they know we're world-beaters now?

Michael Jones, Monday, 8 April 2019 12:34 (five years ago) link

Sorry, I mean W4L1.

Arsenal have won 2 away games out of a possible 12 since December. I would suspect they're not going to win all 4 of remaining in the league (which includes trips to Watford, Wolves, and Leicester)

Missed the c of htafc, that would seemed unthinkable at one time

You know that thing where relegated teams start suddenly playing for fun and knocking a few goals in because why not? This isn't that.

mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Saturday, 13 April 2019 12:01 (five years ago) link

I'm going back out again. I think I actually got more entertainment watching the bunch of losers who took us down to the basement - 80's and 2000's version. I just can't stand watching town anymore it's fucking futile at best!

if we'd only had a player of the ability of say hossan ghaly or teemu tainio to play instead of eriksen today this wouldve been six

Terry Major-Ball Will Tell You (DJ Mencap), Saturday, 13 April 2019 21:44 (five years ago) link

that should be tempered with: against a bunch of deadmen of which half of them wouldn't be first choice in most lower table championship sides and possibly some L1. And Ben fucking Hamer in goal!

calzino, Saturday, 13 April 2019 21:56 (five years ago) link

ben hamer is a bloody legend

imago, Saturday, 13 April 2019 22:00 (five years ago) link

he might well be, but he's a fucking nightmare of goalkeeper!

calzino, Saturday, 13 April 2019 22:04 (five years ago) link

actually in our pre-season he was impressive. But any illusions of basic competence were soon whittled away in the real games.

calzino, Saturday, 13 April 2019 22:07 (five years ago) link

but becauseSiewart has dropped most of the "best" players who won't be there next season. it is basically 50% reserve sides going out for the remaining prem fixtures

calzino, Saturday, 13 April 2019 22:11 (five years ago) link

jesus knockaert

fremme nette his simplicitte (darraghmac), Saturday, 13 April 2019 22:12 (five years ago) link

Pearce's commentary for that game seemed to suggest he thinks Brighton are properly in the shit despite him presumably knowing Cardiff were also tanking at the same time. actually think Brighton could conceivably lose all their remaining games but suspect he's just hooked on histrionics

Wayne Hennessy: too stupid to be racist

Number None, Tuesday, 16 April 2019 18:20 (five years ago) link

It's def my favourite racism story of the year.

Hennessey said "from the outset" of the hearing that he did not know what a Nazi salute was.
"Improbable as that may seem to those of us of an older generation, we do not reject that assertion as untrue," said the panel.
"In fact, when cross-examined about this Mr Hennessey displayed a very considerable - one might even say lamentable - degree of ignorance about anything to do with Hitler, Fascism and the Nazi regime.
"Regrettable though it may be that anyone should be unaware of so important a part of our own and world history, we do not feel we should therefore find he was not telling the truth about this.
"All we would say (at the risk of sounding patronising) is that Mr Hennessey would be well advised to familiarise himself with events which continue to have great significance to those who live in a free country."
