Doing great considering 7/9ths of the lineup’s inability to put the ball in play.

Was not expecting some of the unknowns to erupt against Chapman, among other developments.

Miguel Cabrera ended up at first base on his 105.5 mph drive off RF wall, but it earned him his first RBI of the season. Also Tigers' first run in first three innings of a game this year.

Boyd has been good to excellent despite a pretty stacked first month schedule. Should be interesting once he starts delving into the bottom feeders of the AL teams' lineups.

Question: You got blamed for a lot of what happened here (by fans), fair or not. Can you address that?

Brad Ausmus: "You can keep blaming me. It makes it easier."

Tigers' minus-56 run differential thru 39 games is their worst since 2003 and their 7th-worst ever. Only once in franchise history have they been less than 10 games under .500 with a minus-50 run differential at this point.

A joy to tune into the Tigers and within a few minutes hear Jack Morris mutter about his disappointment in the fan base and crack a sour joke about sports journalists' lack of athleticism.

surely there must be somebody out there who can right this ship by reordering the lineup via Spore or Koan or some comparable software

Less than 365 days after the Tigers took DeCaster in the 18th round of the 2018 draft, DeCaster climbed all the way from rookie ball to Triple-A Toledo, while playing on six different teams, bouncing through a series of cities and endless blur of hotels, putting up impressive numbers at every level.

DeCaster, a 24-year-old sidearm relief pitcher, has appeared in 40 games in the Tigers system, throwing 69 2/3 innings. The righty has a 1.42 ERA with a 0.804 WHIP. He has struck out 81 with just 10 walks and has allowed just three home runs. Teams are hitting just .186 against him.

Trevor Rosenthal’s Tiger debut included a first pitch that hit umpire Laz Diaz in the leg, another pitch that went behind Tyler Naquin, some fastballs that just missed triple digits and a few nasty sliders.https://t.co/sU8xKV39Nc

Tigers have lost 33 of their last 40 games, something the 2003 Tigers did not do. Last MLB team to do so was the 2012 Astros. Only previous time Detroit had done it was 1996.

Edwin Jackson's 9 years, 321 days between wins for Tigers is the longest gap between wins in franchise history. Previous record was 6 years, 95 days by Wild Bill Donovan from 1912 to 1918, when he came out of retirement at age 41 after managing the Yankees. (h/t @EliasSports)

The Tigers position players have posted -1.9 fWAR this year. Do you know how hard that is to do? It's the only negative WAR total of the decade, and the worst mark overall by nearly four wins. And, uh, it's hard to see things getting much better down the stretch.

The Houston Astros are poised to be one of the largest favorites in an MLB game ever when they send Justin Verlander to the mound against the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night.

The Astros are listed as -500 home favorites at Caesars Sportsbook and as high as -550 at other sportsbooks. If the price holds, Houston will be the heaviest favorite in a game in at least the past 15 seasons, according to sports betting database BetLabsSports.com, and likely longer.

Back-to-back strikeouts from Christin Stewart and Travis Demeritte close the Tigers season with a 5-3 loss. They also set a MLB record with 1595 strikeouts in a season, one more than last year's White Sox.
