yeah, I thought about F. Perry right after posting that !
Let's say, out of the sport world (otherwise you have Lacoste, etc).
As for these brands "phat face, sean john, roc-a-wear, ivy park...", I must say I don't know them... (except roc-a-wear but is it a big brand though ?)

These celebrity brands always seem like vanity projects to me and I wonder if they really make money out of it.

lol my husband has a nice coat (non parka) from there. neither of us had any idea it was anything to do with a Gallagher.

tbf there could be his face literally wallpapering the shop and he wouldn't have noticed.

I just told him and said he'd wondered why it was such an odd shop full of pictures of LG

ahah. I wonder if LG was actually wearing his own brand or if he kept wearing the classic brands...

Perfection. Could also go on the "People who have obviously written their own Wikipedia entry" thread: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twisted_Wheel_(band). They've got a whole press release copied in there – including the heading "Press Release".

Twisted Wheel have more depth than some critics gave them credit for: “I was getting compared to Dylan, Cohen, Donovan before Twisted Wheel then we became a band and playing those same songs then getting called lad rock,” he says. “That’s bloody bone idleness to be honest. They try and destroy you people. There's a lot of jealously out there. You normally find people who are instigating stuff like that are out of bands who aren’t getting anywhere in their own band.” Brutal.

Based on a cursory listen to their 2012 single 'Ride', they're mildly preferable to Greta Van Fleet.

pomenitul, Friday, 14 June 2019 13:53 (four years ago) link

Their latest, 'Nomad Hat', is vaguely listenable. I don't hate the stuff, possibly due to some lingering exoticism.

I have to accept what my beautiful thread has been reduced to so I guess we can discuss theory now but mark's post is relevant and important this is essentially a history of rhythmless chunky English lads and the time line goes back at least as far as moorish "dancing"

what's wrong with being centre-y? (Noodle Vague), Friday, 23 August 2019 16:13 (four years ago) link

Can't remember if the Abbot's Bromley horn dance has already appeared in this thread but it's also U&K and there's a fruitful cross-pollination to be made with the funkless arm-flailing of rave culture
