No idea if this purports to some larger comment on the actual world--the ending suggests a possible Trump film, though I do tend to find such connections where none exist--but mildly diverting, with a weird soundtrack (yacht-rock primer plus...the one Cure song I love).

I'm glad it's still in theaters, I kept meaning to bump this thread to express my DISMAY that this was apparently a box office BOMB?! I saw something about the distributors dumping it. what gives?

there were 3 other ppl in cinema when i saw it

this seems to be genuinely offending our patrons, but otoh one of the ushers reported to me that an old lady emerged from it yesterday and announced to the lobby "i wish i was him!!" lol

i enjoyed it, didn't seem to want to waste my time

this was great. Korine has such a fantastic eye, really I will just watch his films for the parade of funny/surprising imagery. Was also interesting that the film doesn't shy away from the trail of destruction anyone living like this would leave behind them, and is more about this fine line he toes between being lovably entertaining and a destructive narcissist

Jonah Hill is terrible in it, is the worst thing I can say about it. Like, just laughably bad.

Such a bummer that this came and went without leaving the impression that Spring Breakers did, it's so much better imo.

idk Korine having "hits" at all is such a bizarre fluke that I wouldn't expect anything he does to have any kind of broad appeal, even something as funny and star-studded as this

I'm not talking blockbuster, this one just came and went, hardly promoted, and pretty much everyone I talked to that was a Harmony Korine fan had no idea it was even out.

yeah this movie ruled, one of my fave big-screen experiences of the year somehow. just casts a spell.

overall really dug this. i may have been flying a little high on edibles and wine myself.

jonah was atrocious. also snoop? kind of not great. like he looks cool and sounds cool but there;s something kind of wooden about him onscreen. this generation's Kris Kristofferson.
