At least the inclusion of the TMNT crossover bodes well wrt these being fairly comprehensive collections. I generally assume with reprints that any cross-pollinated of properties are gonna be perpetually consigned to the back issue bins (see: every goddamn ROM appearance ever).

#4-11 is a mighty FC run so it’s still tempting but dang what a weird tracklisting.

The series gets progressively worse from the point the mysterymen appear imo.

I dunno, Dark Horse recently recollected their entire Conan library into omnibi just before they lost the license to Marvel and the numbering was similarly inscrutable at first blush (I think they organized everything according to story chronology) but they did eventually circle back around to the material they initially skipped.

Past experience would suggest that it doesn't bode anything. the 90s Dark Horse collections ran:

Volume 1: #1-3 of the Aardvark-Vanaheim series, plus a short from Anything Goes, plus two stories from Cerebus, plus one short from A-V In 3-D, in 2-D.

The stories from Visions #1-4 and the original Flaming Carrot #1 were not reprinted in this or later issues, nor were the cover and story from Greed (featuring Milk & Cheese's first appearance; Dorkin was briefly Burden's assistant at the time.) None of these, nor the Aardvark-Vanaheim stories, nor the TCJ, Inc. story are listed as being in this omnibus, so it seems premature to expect them.

Volume 2: #4-11 of the A-V/Renegade series plus a new story.

I wouldn't expect the new story to be in the new omnibus, without it being listed.

Visions #5-9 apparently included new Carrot stories, too, but I dunno if they were reprinted in the comic series, or are floating loose in the world.

Volume 3: (infuriatingly titled Flaming Carrot's Greatest Hits): #12-17 from the Renegade series, #18 from the Dark Horse series, a few bits from Dark Horse #20 and #24 and maybe some new stuff?

Volume 4: #19-24 of the Dark Horse series and a new intro by everyone's pal Jim Shooter

Volume 5, seven years later in 2006, jumped to collecting the internally numbered #33-36, which were published in 2004-05 as a new #1-4 from Desperado through Image.

In 2008, Burden self-published hardcover 10th Anniversary reprints of the first two 1997 collections, with new introductions and revised art and script, and a new C21st Carrot story. Good luck guessing whether the omnibus will feature original or revised versions, or the new story.

In 2011, Dark Horse did a 500-copy print run of the four Bob Burden's Original Mysterymen Present issues from 1999, five years after the last regular Carrot issue.

In 2012, Burden Kickstartered another "super deluxe" hardcover reprint of the first 1997 collection.

Issues #28 through the internally numbered "32", which include Herbie and Reid Fleming crossovers are not necessarily any closer to reprinting even if the TMNT ones are. The artwork for the other TMNT crossover is probably owned by Nickelodeon now, so I wouldn't expect it's easy to reprint, not to mention colour being more expensive. I also wouldn't hold my breath on issues #24-27 meaning anything one way or another for the 1990s Dark Horse Annual or the 1998 Thrilling Visions paperback or the 2007ish Image Special or any of the self-published 1990s-00s issues and ashcans, or the 2013 Thrilling Visions 2. Or the Junior Carrot patrol miniseries by Rick Geary, which may not have had any input from Burden iirc.)

there are three mistakes in there bcz the ILX text box is too small, you can have a no-prize if you spot them all

I just realized I don’t have the junior carrot patrol stuff. Drat. I am something of a Geary completist.
