Nope, was suggested but never followed up.

Dan Worsley, Monday, 25 March 2019 20:50 (five years ago) link

I only got into Gord last year, so I can't say I'm familiar enough with his entire discography to participate in a poll. I spent almost my whole life just thinking he was an unremarkable one-hit wonder who sang about the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 25 March 2019 21:39 (five years ago) link

Would vote for Gord. But I’m guessing single-digit returns.

Una Palooka Dronka (hardcore dilettante), Tuesday, 26 March 2019 00:50 (five years ago) link

yeah, probably not worth it for a small return, maybe I'll start a thread to listen thru his discography instead.

Will (kruezer2), Wednesday, 27 March 2019 14:25 (five years ago) link

Would participate. Song by song would be rad, but album by album is probably more realistic. I am just about to embark on a chronological Gord listening binge, so nice timing!

Una Palooka Dronka (hardcore dilettante), Wednesday, 27 March 2019 22:47 (five years ago) link

I'd totally listen along myself. Been forever meaning to get beyond my scratchy old Best Of LP.

Nag! Nag! Nag!, Wednesday, 27 March 2019 23:20 (five years ago) link

After < 2 minutes finishes, I propose the final installment of the triad: BEST SONGS BETWEEN 3 AND 5 MINUTES.

LEOPLOD BLOOMPS (Leee), Monday, 1 April 2019 21:27 (five years ago) link

nah we gotta do songs between 8 and 10 mins

Neus Anneus (voodoo chili), Monday, 1 April 2019 21:30 (five years ago) link

I would totally Gord out with yall

frogbs, Monday, 1 April 2019 21:31 (five years ago) link

xp I'd be up for that. I'm still REELING from finding the +10-minute not-epic thread and getting cross with all the tracks that almost made my playlist but not quite.

Top 120 Songs Under 120 Seconds (ILM Poll #95)

Bee OK, Thursday, 11 April 2019 00:32 (five years ago) link

Anyone ready to go?

Something on Twitter has made me newly keen on running the Go-Betweens poll I suggested about a year ago. Though the queue, such as it is, remains long and having run a poll scarcely four months ago I should arguably simmer down. :)

Nag! Nag! Nag!, Saturday, 13 April 2019 02:07 (five years ago) link

William aka WmC is going to run Bacharach Songbook next i believe?

Bee OK, Saturday, 13 April 2019 02:13 (five years ago) link

Bacharach yes, but I also like the idea of a Go-Betweens poll

Dan S, Saturday, 13 April 2019 02:19 (five years ago) link

Ah, Bacharach, cool. Yet another I'll feel compelled to participate in then.

Nag! Nag! Nag!, Saturday, 13 April 2019 02:19 (five years ago) link

Excited for a Bacharach poll

lefal junglist platton (wtev), Saturday, 13 April 2019 08:01 (five years ago) link

I've been preparing.

The Carjackers Quickly Dumped ILX Once They Saw What Was Inside (WmC), Monday, 15 April 2019 19:13 (five years ago) link

Does an ILXor want this to happen tomorrow or have a few more days of sub-2 afterglow?

The Carjackers Quickly Dumped ILX Once They Saw What Was Inside (WmC), Monday, 15 April 2019 21:38 (five years ago) link

this ilxor’s in love with you

budo jeru, Monday, 15 April 2019 22:06 (five years ago) link

There's a very helpful thread with all the polls listed. I used to have it bookmarked but I no longer do and can't find it. If anyone knows what I'm talking about could you please post it here?

kornrulez6969, Monday, 15 April 2019 22:59 (five years ago) link

That's the one! Thank you.

kornrulez6969, Monday, 15 April 2019 23:18 (five years ago) link

XXXP: Start whenever you're ready, IMHO. I for one now have a provisional longlist just waiting to be whittled down. :)

Nag! Nag! Nag!, Tuesday, 16 April 2019 01:37 (five years ago) link

Burt is up and running, hoping for a good turnout.
Living Together, Polling Together — it's the BURT BACHARACH SONGBOOK Ballot Poll

The Mod Who Banned Liberty Valance (WmC), Tuesday, 16 April 2019 19:50 (five years ago) link

I would be hell of down for this:

104. Shoegaze/Dream Pop/Post-rock (Albums and EPs)

Though I wonder if post-rock into there is kind of a non sequitur?

Audrey Tautoulogy (Leee), Friday, 19 April 2019 17:03 (five years ago) link

I'm itching for the Go-Betweens poll

Alba, Saturday, 20 April 2019 18:30 (four years ago) link

xp

cant help but feel a post rock/math rock poll should be its own thing now

Thus Spoke Darraghustra (Oor Neechy), Saturday, 20 April 2019 18:43 (four years ago) link

it would be fun to listen/vote in but figuring out what counts would be WW3

these are not all of the possible side effects (Karl Malone), Saturday, 20 April 2019 21:24 (four years ago) link

Put me down for a Girl Groups singles poll.

Dan Worsley, Wednesday, 15 May 2019 08:37 (four years ago) link

two weeks pass...

Okay, there was a vague agreement (with Bee OK at least) that I'd go ahead with The Go-Betweens after Beck concluded. So...no objections?

I'm willing and able to commence pretty much immediately. Tuomas's ambient jamboree is scheduled to choogle along for most of this month but it didn't seem to dampen enthusiasm for the Beck poll. I'm thinking that a generous voting deadline extending a week or so beyond the ambient one might just work. I'll start a thread today if no one advises against it!

Nag! Nag! Nag!, Sunday, 9 June 2019 23:40 (four years ago) link

three weeks pass...

so... who's next?

ufo, Monday, 15 July 2019 00:21 (four years ago) link

would be up for doing a phil elverum poll in the future if there's interest

devvvine, Monday, 15 July 2019 12:14 (four years ago) link

would be interested for sure

ufo, Monday, 15 July 2019 13:25 (four years ago) link

imago said he wants to do that '00s poll

mott the hoopleheads (voodoo chili), Monday, 15 July 2019 14:07 (four years ago) link

*bump*

So... anyone actually ready to go?

Nag! Nag! Nag!, Thursday, 18 July 2019 04:52 (four years ago) link

I guess I'm on the list for Bardo Pond, but I also threw out a Cat Power poll. I'm up for either if that's something people want!

Coelacanth Green (Leee), Thursday, 18 July 2019 17:09 (four years ago) link

Add me at the back of the list for a Wussy poll. I'll be dead and Wussy will be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by then, at which point someone else can take it over.

clemenza, Thursday, 18 July 2019 17:21 (four years ago) link

I for one would be interested to see the results of a Cat Power poll.

I've found it pretty hard to gauge the likely turnout from responses on this thread. There seem to be few contenders right at this instant, so Leee, if you're in a position to start immediately you may as well just try it and see.

(IMHO. Certainly not speaking with any authority, obviously.)

Nag! Nag! Nag!, Friday, 19 July 2019 00:54 (four years ago) link

someone should really run an Underworld poll sometime considering all the love for them here, but I'd want to wait until after Drift finishes up of course

ufo, Friday, 19 July 2019 03:07 (four years ago) link

count me in concerning cat power. i haven't really listened to her in ages.
