Having run three or four of these, always the worst part--you don't want to appear needy as you wait for ballots to arrive.

Last weekend I was doing something even nerdier than voting in an online music poll, so I'm aiming to finish my ballot by this weekend.

KM: If I wanted to correct something on the ballot I've submitted, how would I do that? If its not do-able, no problem...

someone else emailed me about that this morning! i just changed a setting on the Google Form so that submitters can Edit their ballots after voting (previously this setting was turned off, by default). can you try to access your ballot really quick and see if it lets you make a change?

And was able to edit and re-submit (although didn't change anything second time around).

I don't see where I can edit. I enter my username, select my ranking preference, and it just takes me to a blank form for the rankings.

The edit function is on the success page with the 'Now quit your job' message.

I guess if you've closed the window for Google forms since then and got on with yr life/quit yr job, it makes sense that you can't get back to that page without starting over? Otherwise anyone could edit my ballot just knowing my ILX username. (Erm, please don't do that.)

also feel it wld be remiss not to mention this gorgeous track sung by some young kipsigis girls in rural kenya in the 50s who didn't understand that they were being recorded. it's such a treat and has an incredible backstory which kind of melted my brain when I learnt it

the song is about this half-man half-beast character called chemirocha & dancing and leaping until your clothes fall down, but the kicker is that chemirocha = jimmie rodgers as in, t for texas jimmie rodgers, the fkn yodelling cowboy.

some of his recordings had circulated in previous years and made enough of a splash that chemirocha started to be used as a more general name for a singer. this was one of three chemirocha songs that was recorded, although the other two aren't nearly so special. some ppl made a documentary tracking down some of the original performers

Sorry to be a pain Karl but I've realised I'd like to make one change to the sub-30secs section of my ballot - am I better off re-submitting my whole ballot or can I just re-do that bit?

Gavin, no problem! You can just submit another ballot with nothing on it except the correction. And maybe a quick handy note explaining what to change, in case I forget the details next week as I’m sorting through all this :)

I'm not even half way through the playlist, don't think there's any way I can finish it by tomorrow. oh well. I will get a ballot done tomorrow though.

I only got through about 100 songs on the playlist before I threw in the towel but found some songs for my ballot. "The Letter" is one of those songs I must have heard and enjoyed >10 times in my life but never knew the name of - thanks to whoever nommed!
