Some cracking batting here from SL

kiss of death there

problem chimp (Porkpie), Wednesday, 10 June 2009 13:31 (fourteen years ago) link

Also, funny commentary:

Ian Bishop (as Jayasuriya plays and misses): Could this be the end of his career, the eyesight goes, you miss where once you could hit?

next ball

Ian Bishop (as Jayasuriya wangs it for six over square leg): Wonderful shot! Could this be the start of his revival after a slump in form!

other comm (as Jayasuriya steps back in his crease a bit): And that is what he has to do more and more as he gets older with the brisker bowlers, just step back in his crease - he doesn't quite have the time that he once had.

(as Jayasuriya then wangs the ball through point): And that's what makes him so good! A step back in the crease just gives him that extra time so that he can do that to you!

I love Ian Bishop - probably the best player I ever saw play for Derbyshire

problem chimp (Porkpie), Wednesday, 10 June 2009 13:37 (fourteen years ago) link

Same here, although unfortunately I never saw him at a ground. He's a good commentator as well.

GamalielRatsey, Wednesday, 10 June 2009 13:39 (fourteen years ago) link

I saw him play at Queens park and he tore through the tail end of....can't remember...in the space of about 3 overs, absolutely brutal.

I wonder what Karl Krikken's up to now, he was lovably mental (and also v v good)

So head says SA, heart says England this evening. We have won the toss at least...

So head says SA, heart says England this evening. We have won the toss at least...

my bottle of bombardier english premium bitter says "come on!"

need to bat steyn and parnell out of the attack as gayle did to brett lee. i hope so anyway.

still don't understand why owais shah makes the T20 team

whatever, Thursday, 11 June 2009 16:30 (fourteen years ago) link

nice start. ravi, the honeymoon is over.

whatever, Thursday, 11 June 2009 16:36 (fourteen years ago) link

nice one luke. watching the ball would help.

whatever, Thursday, 11 June 2009 16:40 (fourteen years ago) link

no worries though, shah's here to hit 20 in 30 deliveries, hogging the strike.

whatever, Thursday, 11 June 2009 16:41 (fourteen years ago) link

and 2 run outs

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 11 June 2009 16:44 (fourteen years ago) link

one off the fourth over of the power play.

whatever, Thursday, 11 June 2009 16:51 (fourteen years ago) link

England Women vs India at Taunton looks much more promising.

Prince of Persia (Ed), Thursday, 11 June 2009 16:56 (fourteen years ago) link

kp gone, but scored 19 out of the 25 we'd got....

whatever, Thursday, 11 June 2009 16:58 (fourteen years ago) link

I vote we replace our big time charlies with the Womens team.

Prince of Persia (Ed), Thursday, 11 June 2009 16:58 (fourteen years ago) link

Comparing Shah to the womens team is an insult to women!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 11 June 2009 16:59 (fourteen years ago) link

I know, our opening batswoman has 2020 average of 55.

Prince of Persia (Ed), Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:01 (fourteen years ago) link

Can also take wickets with and ODI av of 21.5

Prince of Persia (Ed), Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:03 (fourteen years ago) link

crowd booing shah there? the guy who never comes forward...

whatever, Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:05 (fourteen years ago) link

more boos

whatever, Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:07 (fourteen years ago) link

did anyone remind shah this isn't a 50 over game?

whatever, Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:07 (fourteen years ago) link

why shah is anywhere near an england squad i'll never know. He's far worse than Vaughan,Bell etc at their very worst

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:08 (fourteen years ago) link

He mustve went to the proper university since louis defends him ;)

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:09 (fourteen years ago) link

He is a liability. And if he manages to stay in for more than two overs scoring runs without actually getting run out he gets cramp.

GamalielRatsey, Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:09 (fourteen years ago) link

don't forget hussain's commentary: "two great players of spin in at the moment"

whatever, Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:09 (fourteen years ago) link

that not a no ball? and if he'd been caught from it? suppose it would put us out of our misery. time for another beer...

whatever, Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:13 (fourteen years ago) link

megaboos now

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:16 (fourteen years ago) link

full toss and a six for shah!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:17 (fourteen years ago) link

nice that shah took the strike there

whatever, Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:17 (fourteen years ago) link

and another!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:18 (fourteen years ago) link

such an underrated batsman ;-)

whatever, Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:18 (fourteen years ago) link

and a four!!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:18 (fourteen years ago) link

England win by 10 wickets, 26 balls to spare.

Prince of Persia (Ed), Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:18 (fourteen years ago) link

what a boo can do....

whatever, Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:19 (fourteen years ago) link

and another four!!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:19 (fourteen years ago) link

England basically have to try hit boundaries every ball just to make a decent score

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:20 (fourteen years ago) link

England win by 10 wickets, 26 balls to spare.

the women's team is a lot more to be proud of

whatever, Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:20 (fourteen years ago) link

170 has to be the min score to make a game of it and I still think SA would make that comfortably.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:21 (fourteen years ago) link

To be fair the lost to Australia in the Warmup and India, bizarrely, hadn't played 2020 before coming here.

Prince of Persia (Ed), Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:21 (fourteen years ago) link

Good score on this ground is 180. I reckon you need 200 against SA. So 100-120 off 8 overs....

If they play well they'll get 150.

And SA will go past that after 12 overs.

whatever, Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:22 (fourteen years ago) link

but at least shah is making a fight of it now, that's all you can ask from anyone

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:23 (fourteen years ago) link

colly out

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:23 (fourteen years ago) link

Noooo, should be maska anus in now, not foster.

whatever, Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:24 (fourteen years ago) link

i think it's pretty fair to say this game is over

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:25 (fourteen years ago) link

yes but there's a morbid thrill holding me to the sofa

whatever, Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:26 (fourteen years ago) link

mindless

whatever, Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:27 (fourteen years ago) link

I think if I get back home during a summer I shall go and see an england womens game. Might be quite good.

Prince of Persia (Ed), Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:27 (fourteen years ago) link

at least they win

whatever, Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:28 (fourteen years ago) link
