I watched a few eps of OINTB but didn't like it. The only other things I've seen her in are American Pie 1 & 2, But I'm a Cheerleader, and Party Monster. What's some good stuff she's been in?

slums of beverly hills is amazing with an unbelievable cast: lyonne, marissa tomei, alan arkin, david krumholtz, jessica walters, kevin corrigan, carl reiner.

I liked and didn't like this in about equal measure--liked it more towards the end. Nice ending, especially Love. The actress who played Beatrice reminded me of Diahnne Abbott.

clemenza, Monday, 1 April 2019 03:34 (five years ago) link

I thought you meant Diane Abbott for a moment there

kinder, Monday, 1 April 2019 10:12 (five years ago) link

There's another dia(ah)ne abbott? Does the not uk labour party have a twitter account lok

I didn't know about the politician Diane Abbott till last night. The actress (King of Comedy, Taxi Driver, De Niro's ex):

Someone on Twitter suggested that Natasha Lyonne would make a great Columbo and she said she'd be up for it. That would be quite the thing.

trishyb, Monday, 1 April 2019 13:06 (five years ago) link

that... actually makes a lot of sense, twitter user otm

mr greta t. gremlin (bizarro gazzara), Monday, 1 April 2019 13:07 (five years ago) link

I should mention my favourite, most timely joke: it involved the word "problematic."

clemenza, Monday, 1 April 2019 17:13 (five years ago) link

"a very tough lady, who looked like if Andrew Dice Clay and the little girl from Brave made a baby"?

☮ (peace, man), Monday, 1 April 2019 17:27 (five years ago) link

That was the beginning of the joke--it was the second half I loved, the thing she said as an aside.

clemenza, Monday, 1 April 2019 19:39 (five years ago) link

Right, I gotcha.

Just finished bingeing this - perfect show. Loved the entire aesthetic - costuming, staging, music - and loved Natasha and everyone else. Loved that is was fun and dark and not dragged out and not too heavy.

Mine, kinder? If so I thought I came up with a good joke but may have actually forgotten that darraghmac came up with it!

Shite New Answers (jed_), Wednesday, 12 June 2019 21:32 (four years ago) link

I remembered it being a deems display name but can only find cutty using it (in 2010 so ripe for a resurgence!)

seven months pass...

Forgive the thread spam, but I wanted to note that this show's 2019 season is nominated in the 2019 ILX TV poll:

ILX's Best Television of 2019 Poll / VOTING AND CAMPAIGNING THREAD / Voting Ends January 31

If you like this show and you'd like to see it have a good showing in the poll (running in February) all you need to do is submit a ballot including it and your other favorites (4 minimum, 25 maximum, organized by your favorite to least favorite) to forksclovetofu at gmail by end of day today. It'll take five minutes; get to it!

I probably said as much earlier: having a hard time seeing how they extend this into another season. (Can't remember if the end of the first set that up.)

clemenza, Monday, 7 March 2022 18:35 (two years ago) link

It didn't. That one reason I want to see how they justify it.

Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Monday, 7 March 2022 19:00 (two years ago) link

When they cast Annie Murphy I figured it would be about her, but I guess it once again stars Natasha Lyonne?

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 7 March 2022 20:02 (two years ago) link

i dearly hope they do not try to build off the prior season and just do something different

i cannot help if you made yourself not funny (forksclovetofu), Monday, 7 March 2022 20:52 (two years ago) link

Surely they would have to. Maybe a new decade, like they do on For All Mankind.

It's set 4 years later. There's other information out there, but not sure if people want to reveal that stuff here

rob, Monday, 7 March 2022 21:55 (two years ago) link

I have to say I rewatched this recently and, despite really liking it the first time, I found it borderline unbearable until Charlie Barnett shows up

rob, Monday, 7 March 2022 21:59 (two years ago) link

I kinda don’t want to know anything about what’s going to happen, gonna dive in when S2 surfaces

Goddamn. This is gonna be a year of returning TV for me innit

I keep thinking that people are talking about the other Charlie Barnett and getting confused: https://www.vulture.com/2012/03/timing-is-everything-the-story-of-charlie-barnett.html
