Good, if disinterested, faith sums it up. Mostly I think I hate the idea of asking for permission to join something or be nominated to join something, or whatever the process is.

Not really, I think I've only ever posted about it two or three times, and this is probably the most sustained bit of posting I've ever done on it. And that's, as you say, over a decade.

My opposition to sna lasted about a week! I can't even remember what my problem with it was.

Xp didn’t realize SNA was curatable. I thought it was just a running list of the most recently updated threads

I have sna covering all boards I look at other than ilm, then look at ilm on its own

ok I see now that you can customize view

really wish ILF was folded into ILE though. it feels like every post there gets lost, it's updated only about once a week, and there is aready a lot of discussion of films on ILE

there are no threads for BelaTarr, Hou Hsiao-hsien, or Claire Denis on ILE

having a high profile in a fringe board is better than a low profile thread on a large board

not that it works like that, but it's a nice theory

Ive used nothing but SNA for years, why would I want to have to click on 10 diff boards to see what up?

I guess I’m preferencing my own way of viewing this, but It seems like the presence of a subject on ILE gives it more of a chance for fruitful discussion than on any of the other boards (ILM excepted)

Well that again is where SNA comes in handy, without it i'd miss threads all over other boards. As an example I curated ILM off the viewing list, and as a result I p much never post or read there anymore.

Which means Ive missed participating in a few of those "lets make a pre album" funtimes but ah well!

1. You’re not allowed to post about other ilxors on 77 unless they’re also 77 members so there is zero shit talking behind backs
2. The only condition of acceptance to 77 is that you’re a long-standing (ie you’re a “known”) ilxor

3. You’re not allowed to repost 77 content on other boards

77 was always a hidden board. stet gave me mod privileges there & put my name in the board name as a gag/experiment after I found the other hidden boards: favorite hidden ILX board

IIRC, at the borad's inception, anyone with access to the board could invite any other ILXor, so it grew pretty quickly. Pretty soon controversial posters showed up and the site admins were forced to lay down some rules.

Now only mods have the power to add people to the board. I don't have mod powers there anymore because I abused them (undeleted a thread that another mod had deleted).

imo the real hidden board is the ILX sandbox.

Cue Groucho Marx on clubs.

i'm a member of 77 and can confirm that it's undermining the spirit of ilx. hate to break it to yall but tom d. is right
