Don't know whether it belongs here or Real England but I stayed in the hotel at Bramhall Lane on Friday night and we left before 10 to get back for our match. As we checked out some Blades fans were already in the bar getting a beer in before the Rotherham game. Feels slightly admirable in a completely wrong way.

I pointed out to friends in the pub that a life ban is probably better than having to go to St Andrews once a fortnight

Villa fan here. Thought Birmingham were hard done by to not get a penalty today and have to say their fans were fantastic 👏👏

My statement on the events earlier today. I will be making no further comment at this time. Thank you.

We should all aim to conduct ourselves with the calm resolve of Jack Grealish dusting himself down from a sneak attack lariat to cooly dispatch the worst football club

North Ferriby United wound up today after 85 years over just over £7500 debts. They won the FA Trophy only 4 years ago.

Going by this article, I would expect there to be some upcoming fixture postponements and minutes' silences as the football world angrily seeks to somehow reckon with the fact that [checks notes] Steve Bruce didn't win against the team that sacked him for signing Yannick Bolasie for 70 grand a week on deadline day while his club had one fit centre back

Mathematically safe now.

Sorry nbs

Looks like a good fight back against Stockport, are things finally starting to look up a little?

alas, twas not to be for poor mistreated Steve Bruce

Boles to the Wolds (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 6 April 2019 17:31 (five years ago) link

The second half was maybe the best we've played all season. Speaking to a couple of their fans after the game, their manager instructs them at half time to sit back and take the points if they're thoroughly on top and they got caught by it for not the first time.

So a combination of the two might have flattered the result - especially when both our goals were scrappy horrorshows - but I'm almost optimistic about the new season.

Ched Evans appears to be playing for Fleetwood Town, this is in addition to having Joey Barton as manager...

meanwhile we've become the best team in League One, probably a few weeks too late but it's nice anyhow. i'd have us favourites for the playoffs, and automatic isn't out of the question. we have a couple of insanely good loan signings from west ham and arsenal. london privilege eh

Sorry nbs but once Guiseley went ahead today I thought it was stuck on.

Chorley bottling it is a laugh, I guess they hadn't noticed Stockport have got Nuneaton in their last game.

It's been nailed on for a while, tbh. Going to be very difficult to get back up.

the salacious inaudible (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 22 April 2019 19:30 (four years ago) link

If you were wondering if Leeds Utd were still wretched fucking scum they've just scored after pretending they were going to put the ball out for an injured player and then got Al Ghazi sent off by faking being punched in the ensuing melee

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Sunday, 28 April 2019 12:43 (four years ago) link

Bielsa made them let Villa walk an equaliser in, tbf. The red was a joke, though.

ShariVari, Sunday, 28 April 2019 12:45 (four years ago) link

Yeah and Jansson tried to tackle Adomah while he was walking it in

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Sunday, 28 April 2019 12:46 (four years ago) link

Play acting for the red card was shocking, was in the pub having lunch with our Han so couldn't work out all the other stuff. I wondered what Villa's goal was about!

After Cease to Brexist (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 28 April 2019 13:48 (four years ago) link

I really hate players pretending to be punched or elbowed or head butted or whatever.

I do think that the kind of trickster business that gets the other side to slow down or switch off or whatever is hilarious though. It's very annoying when it happens to my lot because it means someone has made chumps of my team.

I think if Danny Mills is on the telly saying something's "morally wrong" the chances are it's probably alright and I suppose Villa should be proud that their staff cleave so strongly to Corinthian sporting ideals that they were forced to initiate scraps right across (and off) the pitch.

Can't say I blame Bielsa for telling them to let Villa score, given what happened last time his lot did something that wasn't against the rules but apparently offended English football's "morals".

I am angry that watching the clip of this has resulted in my seeing John Terry's face, I did not want that to happen.

I see Patrick Bamford has been charged with "successful deception of a match official", but to be honest with you folks, if it were up to me, he would be being charged with "a 100-strong unit of heavily armoured shock cavalry"
