Songs are good. Album isn't due out until this summer though, which depresses me a little, but will hopefully help her in terms of release strategy or something.

these songs are really nice, looking forward to the album even though i doubt it'll feel anywhere near as exciting as Emotion did
if she mentioned a release window, that's something at least, though it's a shame it's still a while away then.
― ufo, Thursday, 28 February 2019 12:47 (five years ago) link
none of these songs have completely ruled my life like say the night the title track of emotion leaked but i'm hopeful
― jolene club remix (BradNelson), Thursday, 28 February 2019 16:21 (five years ago) link
yeah that's my feeling as well. pretty solid but no eurekas yet.

I thought it was very bold of Popjustice to point out that these songs aren't exceptional and that "Cut To The Feeling" being left of Emotion and B-Side suggests that Jepsen and her camp don't really know what they're doing

doesn’t seem v bold of popjustice to be wrong, seems like their normal thing

finally heard these and am board with them except for one thing -- between "no drug like me" and "party for one" what the hell is going on with her vocals? her voice used to be so clear and bright, and now it's like listening to '10s vs. '90s Mariah Carey. did she get a new and terrible vocal producer? is she trying to make her vocals breathy in some ill-advised R&B pivot? (which wouldn't even make sense, since there are plenty of R&B vocalists with that same brightness of tone -- Kehlani comes to mind)? is this a casualty of The New Chill in pop (who the hell listened to Carly Rae Jepsen for chill songs?) did she blow out her voice on the "Cut to the Feeling" chorus?

Oh fuck, is this an April Fools Day thing?
i don't think so
wouldn't love to be proven wrong here

Real; ticketmaster has tour pre-order going up tomorrow

xp that pre-order will take you all the way through the cart where you enter your credit card info, so if it's a prank it's also probably illegal.

art direction taking a lot of cues from poppy I see

I don't think I can recall spotting a release date on an album cover before. (the art's on Apple Music now, so it seems to be official)

that feels like cheating since it's actually *named* for the release date, but sure, fair point.

i made that joke in the other thread
it is possible to change a cover before release date it’s called metadata
― jolene club remix (BradNelson), Tuesday, 2 April 2019 08:24 (five years ago) link
though if i get a record with a date on the cover i guess i’ll eat my words here

hard to overstate the giddy euphoria this song generated in 2012 - and that energy still flows on like some law of thermodynamics
