e.g. any time your pitcher is required to throw to first

they're not booing you, sir, they're shouting "Boo'd Up" (Will M.), Monday, 25 February 2019 22:57 (five years ago) link

not sure where to post this, but FYI fangraphs released a new version of their scouting/prospects/stats boards:

https://www.fangraphs.com/prospects/the-board-scouting-and-stats

very handy to get a big summary view of prospects, both league-wide or one of your favorite teams (by applying the team filter, of course)

mets v cardinals, 1 pm Eastern, i have the day off and the afternoon is free, ready to watch a man with a wheel battle the apocryphal home turf of the seeker of the fountain of youth

Karl Malone, Sunday, 3 March 2019 17:41 (five years ago) link

you have to imagine the last half of that sentence rewritten in a way that makes sense, with incredibly loud fox sports music blaring in the background

Luis Severino was scratched from today's start with right shoulder discomfort. He will undergo further evaluation and examination this afternoon.

According to Scottsdale police report, Cameron Maybin was arrested for DUI at 2:43 a.m. Friday morning, just hours before the Larry Baer incident was caught on video.

March 1 was an especially rough day for the #SFGiants.

Amazing San Diego TV news segment on 1979 @Padres spring training in Yuma, featuring Gaylord Perry, Doug Rader, John D'Acquisto's Trans-Am and some killer 70s bar and restaurant signage. https://t.co/NQMNo3v5Qm via @YouTube

ha, doug rader. what a guy.

tucson, aside from it being a college town, last time i was there, has parts that feel like yuma. i think there’s probably one main drag and it’s a very short one. but it’s the same thing. fast food and dive bars.

Wow, Ted Leitner is super young there.

I've always loved his quirk of calling them "my padres" after a win and "your padres" after a loss.

Who was the victim? Maybe it was one of those lessons that veterans enjoy teach to rookies

but i'm there are fuckups (Karl Malone), Monday, 11 March 2019 18:31 (five years ago) link

that's a lesson rarely learned twice...teach him in September imo

A.J. Hinch was ejected one pitch into tonight's game. Unclear why (no TV feed in here). He barked in the face of the HP umpire, spent minutes arguing, had to be restrained by a coach and George Springer, got tossed, then slowly walked to the left field exit to make a spectacle

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Saturday, 16 March 2019 00:28 (five years ago) link

shockingly, that umpire was . . . angel hernandez

https://sports.yahoo.com/angel-hernandez-ejects-aj-hinch-one-pitch-into-bottom-of-first-in-spring-training-game-002233917.html

mookieproof, Saturday, 16 March 2019 02:15 (five years ago) link

can angel hernandez write well? he's an awful ump but i bet he has some good stories

but i'm there are fuckups (Karl Malone), Saturday, 16 March 2019 02:19 (five years ago) link

lol, i love that according to the aj hinch interview, angel hernandez says that he gets 4 calls (balls and strikes) wrong per game

but i'm there are fuckups (Karl Malone), Saturday, 16 March 2019 02:22 (five years ago) link

I think he alone should be replaced by a robo-ump.

Van Horn Street, Saturday, 16 March 2019 02:38 (five years ago) link

Tigers ran a video montage of Don Kelly highlights between innings. A.J. Hinch made him stand at top of dugout for an ovation.
