dunno about that, he doesn't really have many songs this short, especially not fan favorites

ok i know i talked shit about "sabotage tracks" earlier but uhh if this farrah abraham song was intended to be that, it backfired, this is insane, i think i love this? what the fuck? this is SO FUCKING WEIRD

afaik we were never really given a good explanation for this. it's still kind of an open mystery. every time I listen to it I think of this YouTube comment: "if Captain Beefheart made 808s & Heartbreak"

frogbs, Thursday, 21 February 2019 20:39 (five years ago) link

xp - wait a minute...I thought "Beyond Belief" qualified but apparently it doesn't

likely my #1:

A Frames - Hostage Crisis (1:39)

One of those Grind/Power Violence songs that really goes places, instead of just splattering everywhere

Weekend Nachos - For Life (1:05)

eva logorrhea (bendy), Thursday, 21 February 2019 22:10 (five years ago) link

huh, that must be a different "A Frames" than the band I know from Seattle?

sold out in presale (sleeve), Thursday, 21 February 2019 22:17 (five years ago) link

No! The Seattle one!

eva logorrhea (bendy), Thursday, 21 February 2019 22:20 (five years ago) link

unless you were mistaking my Weekend Nachos hot take with the A Frames

eva logorrhea (bendy), Thursday, 21 February 2019 22:21 (five years ago) link

no I just couldn't find that song on Discogs!

"Radiation Generation" is my favorite of theirs but idk the track time and I used up all my noms on US hardcore tracks

Thoughts on ‘Henry’ by Rod Stewart aka the introduction to ‘Maggie May’ on ‘Every Picture Tells a Story’, it’s listed as a separate track on some pressings.

Dan Worsley, Thursday, 21 February 2019 23:11 (five years ago) link

Never knew that. Another oddity: even though it's always "Won't You Try/Saturday Afternoon" for Jefferson Airplane--I never see them listed separately--digitally, they're two separate songs (with "Won't You Try" just over a minute). That'd be on my list for sure, but I'll bypass it--I just don't think of it as a standalone.

Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments - RNR Hall of Fame (1:06)

Bombs away on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Even if I got indicted I'd probably feel the same
I don't wanna see Eric Clapton's stuffed baby

Bombs away, bombs away
Cleveland's cool, Cleveland's cool
I don't want to see the liver of David Crosby
I don't want to see all the drugs I couldn't take
I don't want to see the collector scum pay

Blow it up, blow it up, blow it up
Blow it up before Johnny Rotten gets in
Blow it up before Paul Westerberg sits in
Blow it up before Steve Albini makes a speech
Blow it up, blow it up

xp don't use itunes, never will, these nominations are whittled down from the billions of mp3s I've stored on my hard drive and queued up in wimamp

mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Friday, 22 February 2019 13:14 (five years ago) link

iTunes crashes if I attempt to add my whole library in it so it was a painful add one chunk, remove the sub 2 minutes, add another chunk, remove the sub 2 minute tracks, etc.

I think there is a Windows Explorer advanced search limiter based on "length:" but I couldn't get it to work.

billstevejim, Friday, 22 February 2019 18:29 (five years ago) link

contra morrisp these eno tracks are v welcome in the noms playlist

ogmor, Friday, 22 February 2019 18:34 (five years ago) link

They may not fit very well in the overall punk/rock'n'roll-ish slant of the playlist, but those Eno tracks were the first thing I thought of as examples of 'miniatures'.
