That's not me, but the reason my own nominations skewed so contemporary is because I was working off of my CD collection (via iTunes). Am planning on going through my vinyl over the next day or two, which will be trickier--I suspect I'll be doing a lot of verification of song lengths--but hopefully this'll get some older material on my list, at least.

I was kinda arguing in the ballot poll thread that 2 minutes was too long--it's a fairly normal song length. im thinking about limiting myself to only voting for songs 1:45 or shorter, but that'll eliminate most of my favorite songs from the poll (because, again, 1:55 or so is a perfectly normal length for a song)

not a complaint, i've nominated a whole bunch of songs longer than 105 seconds. more a comment on the embarrassment of riches. (i'm embarrassed by the riches)

lol yeah, it's true that the range between 1:45 and 1:59 really does hold an enormous amount of good songs. i'm amazed at how many of my favorites so far are exactly 1:53

ok i have to ask because i don't know how it gets handled - the original recording (track 1 on "doctor who at the bbc radiophonic workshop, volume 1") is 2:22 - as used on television it never runs that long, but 0:39 is in fact a shorter edit. how do we count these?

I think it should count, but we’ll be specific that each vote for it is a vote for the 39 second edit - if it’s been released somewhere
