him being a creep who harassed a musician on her label, jeopardized that creative relationship, at present has caused that label to take a hit image-wise, and has led to her stepping away from the label...that all seems like grounds for a breakup but again if she wants to stick with him she’s free to do so, as weird as I may find it.

I know nothing about their relationship but I do know sometimes it's hard to leave a toxic victimizer, even when it's self-evidently in your own best interest.

Yeah, there is a whole emotional ecosystem in which these things take place from which it may be difficult to withdraw

off topic, Real has grown and grown on me, I think it's her best album

i picked up that one and Boy Crazy and Singles, both are outstanding. Her documentary is on Amazon Prime right now, been meaning to watch it.

xxpost Miller and Warshaw both say he was banned from "Bloodshot events" and contact w the artists, that they didn't make a public announcement when Loveless first reported the behavior because "respecting her privacy" until she wanted to go public---so at least they've got their story straight. And Warshaw "stepping away," rather than going after Loveless, sounds about right, from this outsider's point of view.

So back to the music and thanks for mention of documentary, hadn't heard of that.

That's my (hopeful) guess.

Like, the immediate reaction I saw to the Ryan Adams revelations was a general "yeah, this dude is bad news" and "I'm glad this is coming out," but you only had to peel one layer deeper to find A LOT of people excusing all sorts of things.

I would agree it's not exceptional, but solid...feels like a side 2 album track.
that said, I love how she sings and the way she puts songs and lyrics together.
Really happy she's back.

Real grows in my estimation more and more as time passes.

Saw her opening to tMG last year and enjoyed it very much, so I happily preordered this and will await results.

oh so this is just a re-release of the Boy Crazy EP and a handful of singles & bsides? the Boy Crazy EP is indeed fantastic. not sure I'm familiar with these other tunes in the second half. Wouldn't really compare this to her proper albums (Somewhere Else is my favorite, too).

"September" is gorgeous

So the new one returns to her consistently Columbus-to-Chicago urban country jangle, though now all in the searching, introspective singer-songwriter mode, though certainly more concisely compressed, candidly judicious than most such albums; she's not letting fly like "Idiot Wind" and bridge-barn-burning Natalie Maines. She's past that, going deeper/further/along in this remarkably shitty, damaged and damaging time, having apparently broken with her mate and Bloodshot too:

I wanna show you something you can’t memorize---and the equally eerie finale, "Don't Bother Mountain," so far seem anchored tp Phil Collins-recalling drum atmospheres, though with her own deft production touches, and gray Morning After sources: no bad tracks, but I miss the headbanging sweat-it-out breakthroughs of yore---some wailing on "September," and her voice is strong, committed, all through, but overall effect so far a bit frustrating. I hope there will be more remixes.

Words can be amazing, music not as much.

It's all pretty slow, is what I mean.

Too cautious.

But I'll keep listening, prob get more involved in details, to some extent.
