"this year" at the end of "minding the gap" couldn't have been a better choice; perfect capstone to a painfully beautiful movie

is it just me or is there a weird edit at the very start of the first chord on sicilian crest?

Good catch, getting that correct rn

I guess it's not a big deal, I mean, Grouper had the same thing happen with "Clearing"

saw them live on Friday, tour opener in DC. it was great fun, though DC crowds never dance around quite as much as I would like.

matt douglas was simply incredible. what a wonderful musician!

i'm loving this...such an amazingly produced/recorded album...Passaic 1975 is going to be one of my fav MG tunes ever I think

<3 the engineer Matt Ross-Spang is just a genius dude. It has been interesting to read how people are talking about it being a "new direction" production-wise but in my mind I was just taking what I love about "Against Pollution" and trying to use it as a template for every song across the album-- this kind of tensile quality and space.

Wizard King feels so special to me and I can’t place why. I love it.

Listened to John on Song Exploder from a few weeks ago and I solidly would like to hear him discuss every song. Absolutely loved Colbert singing This Year also.

There's a podcast where he does this with Joseph Fink.

As a parent, been thinking about Best Ever Death Metal Band in Denton this week and had to decide that the lessons of the lyrics no longer apply if Death Metal Band were switched out with Instagram Jackass Knockoff.

No less than five(!) separate, individual ads for "Donald Glover Presents" popped up when I followed that link. Stereogum getting that Childish Gambino $$$.

But I do really dig this TMG tune.

I like how the last 4 or so full-band album titles each seemed geared toward some demo of fandom (wrestling, goths, D&D/MtG, Cold Steel).

and I have to tell you in case anybody misses it: the organ on the new song? That swelling, throbbing, miraculous Hammond B3? that's CHARLES HODGES. THE GUY WHO WROTE THE "LET'S STAY TOGETHER" ORGAN LINE. "TAKE ME TO THE RIVER." "LOVE AND HAPPINESS." ~THAT~ GUY pic.twitter.com/UDK8fcIRHO

not that I would know but I have it on fairly good authority that none of these people have visited a stylist in 2020 and that this hair is 100% "what happens when you just let it go"
