to everyone hating on SNL so much: you try working with 30 other people to come up with ~40 minutes of funny material every week and you have no other commitments and it's your full-time job and it pays pretty good. not as easy as it looks.

That Lollipop sketch was one of my favorite this season.

That was good. So were the Roach-Ex and Puppy Pound fake ads, the cake competition, Fresh Takes (the school show with the loose-lipped teacher), and Beck Bennet's Jules thing on Update. I thought this was the best episode in a while.

That game show was so great. John Mulaney should host every year.

And the Bodega Man sketch was pretty good/loling.

Game show sketch was repeat/extension of similar one some seasons ago, I remember guest knowing all these people then host brings out the contestants door man.

Super good episode through and through (minus music guest). Bodega sketch was epic and refreshing for them. Didn’t they do an epic musical kinda thing last time he hosted?

Header is always a great of course.

The musical sketch from Mulaney's first time hosting was an unrealized one that he had crafted back when he was a writer on SNL that he finally got to sneak in as a host. So, either he had more of these stashed away, or the success of the first one made them go for it again.

He's the best host they've had in...I dunno, decades? Is that overstating it? His "Cha Cha Slide" dance turned an underfed sketch premise into a outrageously delightful bit of physical comedy.

I watched 5 seconds of the musical guest singing, went NOPE, and FF'd it.

The Bodega Man sketch part with the 'man who doesn't work there but is watching soccer on tv'...omg.

I remember when they brought him out to do a weekend update bit when he was a writer. He looked like he was 12. I agree, he probably wasn’t ready!

I bet he’s working on a new hour because his monologue was funnier than his entire last comedy special.

Macro dosing film critic had me in stitches. Pretty spotty episode otherwise though nephew skit was great and I have to admit touchy Biden was good.

All of Weekend Update was better than average. Aidy was so good in the nephew sketch.

All in all pretty good one although harrington is as good at comedy as he is at other kinds of acting.

harrington gave a hilariously blank performance in andy samberg's 7 days in hell.

I'm never likely to watch SNL as it's not shown in the UK, but from what I can tell from this tweet, fuck them all forever

So true. Wonderful tribute to a woman who didn't create Brexit but is forced to deal with it.

SNL's politics are conservative/reactionary, just like any org with a rich 74-yo Democrat at the helm

I love the AV Club's SNL recap/reviews because the dude who writes them is literally enraged, every week, that he had to take 90 minutes out of his week to watch jokes that were not about how Donald Trump is the most evil person in human history and should be subject to mob execution.

The Deirdre/Jared short should've been in the first hour.

another dire episode with maybe two funny bits. I'm old and have no idea who BTS are but I agree with teenagers across the world that they were the best thing on the show.

che and jost are both terrible. che just thinks being mean-spirited and mumbly is edgy humor, but it just makes him a dickhead who is difficult to understand

Che probably didn’t like the line in the article about him being only slightly funnier than Jost.
