Yes, I was playing 1 when I made this thread. I'm really unsure if I'll try 2, maybe I'll reassess after I try another run through 1 with some hopefully better decisions.

The music in LIS2 is TERRIBLE. Really almost a deal-killer terrible.

Right - I made it to the end of
chapter 2 and... I think they forgot to include a game, in this game?

I don't know what happened - I loved the first series so much. Maybe I enjoyed playing as someone who could control time more than as someone who... has a brother with telekinesis? There was a game mechanic in the first series - like Groundhog Day, Edge of Tomorrow, Braid, etc etc - that let you discover whole new wrinkles to what seemed like simple situations. This series just... does away with all that and replaces it with... emoting indie music? Like.. great world-building dudes but where is the game??

Also who takes their dishes back to the kitchen by putting their glass ON TOP of their dirty plate??? They do this TWICE. I got both so nervous that the glass was going to fall off the plate and so squicked out by the glass rolling around in the old food that I was totally on the verge of yelling at the TV but then that sweet, sweet indie music lulled my savage breast back to a place of childlike wonder

i think i did the laundry twice, in two different houses, to no discernible effect

apparently there's something quite dramatic that can happen at the end of E2 but apparently i made the "right" choices and the dramatic/bad thing didn't happen so this was like LIS2: Low Stakes Revenge

Just curious: does LIS2 take into account the choices you make in LIS1?

I doubt it, it's a totally new story with difft characters

the problem is that i PRE-PAID for all these episodes so i feel obligated to play them now. ep 1 was aight. but... what the fuck happened???? LiS 1 was so great! maybe it was...... removing the entire game mechanic of the first series. ahhh that was it. I'm going to finish ep3 tonight. but i think that'll probably be it.

Wowsers! If only you could rewind time to fix that mistake, I'm sure such an action would have no consequences.

Finished LiS1 over the break. Other than the rewind mechanic, didn't know the plot details. Surprisingly dark. For the most part, followed natural inclinations, but found the relationship push interesting. Neither prospect was enticing, so stayed mostly neutral. After the middle alt section, one prospect was redeemed somewhat, enough that I went with the minority choice at the end. Watched the other decision on YT, a video with a ring of online gamers' reactions. Easy to see why the game made such a mark. The Foals' "Spanish Sahara" has an additional facet for me now. The YT comments on that video and others, and the reddit LiS forum, are interesting reading for what folk bring to the game and how they interpret it. Not feeling a push to follow the series, but very happy to know what the fuss was about.

Figuring we're all spoiled re: the first game, there's a ~24 issue comic series that continues on assuming you chose Chloe over Arcadia Bay. Found it very, very well written and illustrated almost seamlessly similar to the game. Goes in-depth with the characters you know, introduces some new people, and consistently sustains the story's pace and quality. Highly recommend. Available via Hoopla, if you have a library account.
