I'm not surprised I was the only voter for Meg Bowles, but I do find it odd only 3 people beside me vote for Jlin... Didn't her previous albums do really well in these polls? I thought Autobiography was quite good too, but maybe the fact that it's a largely beatless soundtrack/mood piece made it less popular?

I was lucky enough to place 4 of my top 5! Which makes this a good year! The one that missed out, Bringing The Backline, got 98 points from 2 votes, which means that the odds of it being seen as p much the best indiepop album ever depended on whether it was being listened to inside our house or not

Really, why? It doesn't sound that different from the previous one, and the songwriting is even stronger. It was certainly the best R&B record I heard last year.

I didn't vote as usual, cos I didn't feel like I'd listened to enough 2018 stuff to do a good ballot, but I just looked at my music.xls and apparently I listened to 209 releases from 2018 (tbf a lot of those are singles not albums), but I've only heard 6 of the top 77 albums! so I guess I've got a lot to listen to...

Second year running, my nearest neighbor was my own progeny. The apple doesn't fall, etc., etc.

If I had my time again I'd defintely vote for Henri Texier's Sand Woman, Nik Bärtsch's Ronin and Music IS by Bill Frissell.

I wasn't on the metal thread (or ilx) from about march until this poll rollout so I have no idea if the rolling thread thought it was a great year but I think there's a good chance what has happened in bobbins thread has happened on metal thread as A) it always looked dead and several high profile rolling thread posters and voters say they aren't voting in metal poll this year.

I think some of the older posters have either lost interest in metal or have lost interest in current metal and only listen to new releases by bands they already like or just listen to classic stuff.
Age catches up with metallers just like it catches up on some clubbers.

metal thread didn't feel quite as active this year as last, but as recently as last year, i believe it was the most active rolling thread ... at least in terms of posting new songs that ulysses (is ulysses the mega-Spotify playlist master? i can't remember) was tracking.

tbf most of the old metal threads were just links to the writers blogs but they've mostly migrated to twitter.

It's a slight edit of the performance on Humber Bridge ('only minor adjustments have been done to justify the transition from sound walk to album', says Rune Grammofon).
