someday i need to go through and retag the genre all my RPI records from "prog" to "RPI"

the last RPI album i added was io uomo's "ricordi d'infanzia"

oh shit it's actually "io uomo" by "ricordi d'infanzia"

i also like the late '80s/early '90s japanese fake RPI records like pazzo fanfano di musica and balletirosadimacchia

massaman have you heard "on the road to ys"

Have you heard Cervello's album rushomancy? They'd fit pretty tidily on the that list there.

i can get the vibe but i'm hit or miss with flute and cervello have _four_ flautists? i don't know if it's necessarily clicking with me but i'll give it a bit more time.

whoa, what's going on with the vocals on the eddie harris song? it's like exactly halfway between vocals and a muted/treated trumpet? i keep on secondguessing whether i'm hearing a voice or a horn!

Karl Malone, Sunday, 10 February 2019 02:57 (five years ago) link

I believe he's singing through his Varitone (electric effects unit and filters) saxophone

I love the effect of those Harris vocals! Adds to the odd, womb-like feel of the whole track.

Egyptian experimental bandleader/composer/musician Maurice Louca's new album with 12-piece ensemble is quite lovely.

love this stuff so probably need to get the individual 70s lps. Great soullish stuff from a singer who started on the folk scene and blended in jazz elements, like having 2 bassists playing at the same time on the 1st lp.

THis is really nice too. So glad i got it, probably would have bought the Fantomas set if they had it on cd. NOt sure what the story is on their cd version now, if it is sold out permanently or if it is just while they're touring. They were playing the soundtrack to the film live to the film at the local University a couple of weeks ago

really enjoying this 2015? release, Degiheugi - "Endless Smile"

I guess it's trip-hop? downtempo hip-hop? so good for getting zero exposure.

is fun. punky luttenbachers power-blatt with some tricksy ornette meets brax tunage.
