Hate to say it, but if your capital city and largest city also contains the state's name, everyone's just going to think of the two as one and the same.
Unless there's a cool city up the way like Tulsa.

Really though, there's such established cartoon tropes to signify someone has eaten something too hot (face turning red, smoke coming out of the mouth/ears, etc) that it's really mystifying whoever drew that didn't just use them.
