not that those old songs aren't classics or anything just that it was jarring in an awesome way when the "what you know" beat started playing out of nowhere

this show is awwwwfffuuulllllllllll. every entry turns into a mini "where are they now"....sorry I didn't want to know that one of the chicks from JJ Fad is a receptionist, I would have much rather watched and/or listened to "supersonic" and heard some more commentary from some people that know stuff about the SONG.

producers should be shipped off to E!

don't really care about the lsit but shocked that "The Message" isn't number one and that CREAM isn't in the top 5....i guess I'm just a purist!!!

I think a "Fight The Power" vs. "The Message" poll is in order.

FTP isn't even in my top 10 PE songs, so Message would win.

I'm trying to think of 10 PE songs I like more than "Fight The Power"; I can come up with maybe 3 ("Brothers Gonna Work It Out", "Night Of The Living Baseheads", "Bring The Noise").

To those, I'd add "Can't Truss It", "Hazy Shade of Criminal", "Don't Believe The Hype", "Fear Of A Black Planet", "Rebel Without A Pause", "You're Gonna Get Yours", and "Black Steel In The Hour of Chaos". "Fight The Power" is a good song, but it doesn't stand out as a song. As a cultural event, maybe.

Do you remember in middle school when we could bring in tapes to gym class and Mr Coverdill or Mr Gehrke or whoever would play them in the locker room? I brought in a tape of songs that I'd taped off the radio, and "Now That We Found Love" was totally on there.

Dude I have a vague recollection of you playing a tape there! The gym teachers had some weird bat cave type set up that I didn't dare venture into.

I think Marky Mark might've been on that tape, too.

If it was that MTV dance mix album, "Now That We Found Love" segued into "Good Vibrations".

Nah, it was a homemade deal: whatever was being played on the radio in late summer 1991.
