Acting Crazy (Instrumental) (jed_), Thursday, 31 January 2019 02:23 (five years ago) link

I don't know what that's a reference to but it's a reference to something, that's for sure.

Acting Crazy (Instrumental) (jed_), Thursday, 31 January 2019 02:23 (five years ago) link

i actually thought of "you never her" at work the other day and lol'd

Acting Crazy (Instrumental) (jed_), Thursday, 31 January 2019 02:38 (five years ago) link

Acting Crazy (Instrumental) (jed_), Thursday, 31 January 2019 02:39 (five years ago) link

Acting Crazy (Instrumental) (jed_), Thursday, 31 January 2019 02:41 (five years ago) link

I turn 40 this year and am going to Palm Springs. Prove me wrong.

I'm in the library and it's sunny. Prove me wrong.

I almost went to Palm Springs by accident a few years ago (we were headed for the Nixon Museum and made a wrong turn). "This is the desert," I said.

I was in socal for a few days this week and met the lovely Joe G.

macropuente (map), Sunday, 3 February 2019 03:42 (five years ago) link

So nice!!! He is a true gentleman. Did everyone have a good weekend? The boof and I just had a life talk, it was oddly refreshing. We're thinking about "next steps."
Fuck life is weird!!!

surm, Monday, 4 February 2019 02:31 (five years ago) link

I spent the weekend basically watching all the Oscar nominated shorts. So my life is kind of what it’s always been?

forrest drumpf (Eric H.), Monday, 4 February 2019 02:56 (five years ago) link

That sounds wonderful. Any good views?

surm, Monday, 4 February 2019 03:33 (five years ago) link

Yeah, more dissertation work (but not enough), putting together an application package for a teaching gig in the Spring, plus I watched Happy as Lazaro (which I liked a lot). Lots of dog walking now that the cold snap is (temporarily?) over.

Eric: same question. I liked Fauve quite a bit, thought Bao and Animal Behaviour were kinda meh, and haven't seen any of the others.

I flew to Boston to see my boo for 72h, it was so lovely, I love him so much

A friend photographed me throwing a football yesterday afternoon.

Your sweetie-pie-coo-coo I love ya (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 4 February 2019 14:28 (five years ago) link

I made him watch Rent which he has never seen, which I didn't think he would enjoy but wanted his commentary on as a gay Gen-X filmmaker w his own brushes w addiction and it's basically a play written abt ppl like him but for a mainstream audience. He didn't hate it as much as either of us thought! But we both agreed that it was largely wack and v straight-white-male-gazy. He said it felt very USA Today.

vision joanna newsom (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 4 February 2019 14:49 (five years ago) link

Fauve was awfully good. Detainment awful, thoroughly awful. The docs were all kind of middling this year, though I thought the aesthetic choices Black Sheep made were interesting.

I actually didn't watch the animated ones yet, not sure why I said "all" upthread.

forrest drumpf (Eric H.), Monday, 4 February 2019 15:07 (five years ago) link

I watched a Korean film at MoMA on Saturday night, then didn't go to a sex party bcz i was too tired,

I was looking through this old gay thread -- The Sun Is Shining For The First Time In Forever; We're Gay! Fagz Club Spring 2010 -- and ... we were all a lot nicer to each other back then.

zama roma ding dong (Eric H.), Monday, 4 February 2019 20:41 (five years ago) link

Had these threads kept going, I would've known who else to invite to lunch a couple frigid Saturdays ago with Morbs and j0rdan

totally concur, i actually prefer 2 for the most part, i have a pretty short attention span!

surm, Monday, 4 February 2019 22:49 (five years ago) link

nice and gray here today but someone needs to call the weather channel and have them turn this temperature down back where it belongs

surm, Tuesday, 5 February 2019 14:31 (five years ago) link

Boo's been watching that ridiculous thing about Gianni Versace on tv
it's disturbing tbh

surm, Wednesday, 6 February 2019 16:46 (five years ago) link

Also overblown. Best episode concentrated on David Madson imo.

zama roma ding dong (Eric H.), Wednesday, 6 February 2019 17:17 (five years ago) link

yeah it's a little rushed or something, i dunno it could have been more interesting

surm, Wednesday, 6 February 2019 17:52 (five years ago) link

what's everyone got on tap for the weekend?

surm, Thursday, 7 February 2019 17:45 (five years ago) link

Dinner with friends, writing, cleaning the kitchen cabinets.

Your sweetie-pie-coo-coo I love ya (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 7 February 2019 17:50 (five years ago) link

oh i'm reorganizing my kitchen drawers! lol.

surm, Thursday, 7 February 2019 17:53 (five years ago) link

(that sounds nice)

surm, Thursday, 7 February 2019 17:54 (five years ago) link

Not this weekend, but next weekend, I'm taking an enforced two week vacation with no computer no phone. Two weeks at home just reading, cooking, swimming, lifting, boyfriend, dog, shrooms, friends, practicing music. I'm looking forward to it extremely

flamboyant goon tie included, Thursday, 7 February 2019 18:07 (five years ago) link

omg. heaven!

surm, Thursday, 7 February 2019 18:19 (five years ago) link

last weekend I was in Boston, this weekend is Part 2 of rearranging my apartment that I started 2 weeks ago. Closet has already been reorganized, and an unwanted ottoman placed in the closet. Next up is a desk moving to where the ottoman was, a nightstand moving to where the desk was, a new TV unit being assembled, all my DVDs moving onto the new TV unit, and then the dozens and dozens of books lying around my apartment going onto the old DVD shelf.

vision joanna newsom (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:24 (five years ago) link

awesome.

surm, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:36 (five years ago) link

I feel that I like everyone who posts in these threads and who has posted in them over the years. It has improved my life in a small but significant way. I know conversations started happening elsewhere because they started taking place on facebook so these threads died a little but it has been very meaningful at times to connect with you all.

I dunno what inspired that but it's worth saying.

Acting Crazy (Instrumental) (jed_), Thursday, 7 February 2019 23:33 (five years ago) link

that's a really nice way of putting it and i very much agree

macropuente (map), Friday, 8 February 2019 00:38 (five years ago) link

I'm not on Facebook, so these threads are my only lifeline to the gays of ILX.

Timothée Charalambides (cryptosicko), Friday, 8 February 2019 00:46 (five years ago) link

I wish I has said it more eloquently. As I recall, I've met three people from these threads, boxedjoy is a good friend of mine that I'd never have met were it not for them. There are others I consider to be friends, even though we have never met.

Acting Crazy (Instrumental) (jed_), Friday, 8 February 2019 02:14 (five years ago) link

I will be watching old movies on a big screen, bcz it is a weekend
