When I’m falsely accused of a crime, I also like to lay low and mostly ignore it for a day, and then when a third party says they don’t have proof that’s when I go fully nuts

Anyway it’s annoying mueller is throwing ice water on the buzzfeed story. And it’s annoying trump is touting it as a victory. It’s not like he was forthright about trump tower moscow—he lied to voters about it. he is bragging that there might not be ironclad evidence of him ordering cohen to lie to congress about it.

Trϵϵship, Saturday, 19 January 2019 05:08 (five years ago) link

I thought for sure we had him this time. Well, next time for sure for sure. Without a doubt.

Mueller seems like the type who wants the narrative, when it emerges, to be airtight, by-the-book, and beyond caviling. Of course, once it is released into the wild, the narrative will quickly flow downhill toward a more easily assimilated simplification, and each side will compete to direct it to the most convenient resting place for their purposes.

I just heard that Trump sent Melania to Florida on a government plane on the same night he refused Nancy Pelosi her flight. & he used a Boeing 757 not a C37 so it cost tax payers >$35,000, lovely.

Stevolende, Saturday, 19 January 2019 11:25 (five years ago) link

well this mueller news really sucks

k3vin k., Saturday, 19 January 2019 12:50 (five years ago) link

Yeah... most logical takeaway is that the story was flat wrong given Mueller actually responding at all.

Evan, Saturday, 19 January 2019 13:39 (five years ago) link

Or maybe Whitaker made him release the statement?

Wonder if Mueller leaked that to get in Trump's good graces and then willrelease the report that says "lol jk he totally did it just didn't want to take the edges off my report with leaked spoilers"

I just read that weird WaPo piece about the reporter in Paris who randomly got put on the line with the Pres. No shock, but I guess Trump still asks "Are you Hillary or Trump?" of people he meets?

Reportedly ready to offer temporary protection for Dreamers in return for border money. Fuck that. Temporary is worthless.

Josh in Chicago, Saturday, 19 January 2019 18:22 (five years ago) link

fuck temporary protection, but more importantly, fuck ANYTHING AT ALL in exchange for the wall. if you criticize the offer because it's temporary, that leads to possible concessions that it would be better if it were permanent, which would be a compromise that trump could try to negotiate toward. then he could claim victory on two counts - getting his dumbass border wall, and getting democrats to concede to a deal that was offered a year ago. it would also reinforce the idea that establish budgets and policy via hostage showdowns is a good thing to try. that's why they have to just stand strong on the NOTHING for the wall, open the government now you childish loser strategy

Karl Malone, Saturday, 19 January 2019 18:51 (five years ago) link

Open the government and we will be happy to talk about whatever proposals the executive may have. But risking health and safety, hurting the economy, and delivering pain to families can never be the start of a fruitful negotiation. So, open the government, and let’s talk.

Also

Rudolph Giuliani tells @CNNSotu that Trump may indeed have spoken to Michael Cohen about his congressional testimony beforehand. "And so what if he talked to him about it?" Denies Trump told Cohen to lie.

— Jon Swaine (@jonswaine) January 20, 2019

.@GStephanopoulos: "Did Donald Trump know that Michael Cohen was pursuing the Trump Tower in Moscow into the summer of 2016?"

Rudy Giuliani: "According to the answer that he gave, it would have covered all the way up to... November of 2016." https://t.co/kEzanELn3I pic.twitter.com/kxSUAXFhtk

💥BAM! Rudy just said: "Collusion is not a crime; it was over with by the time of the election." That's some goal-post-moving confession right there.

He also said Trump told the special counsel that he pursued Trump Tower Moscow deal all the way to November 2016. https://t.co/TIuXX2NOJX

BuzzFeed News is strongly standing by its Michael Cohen story. BF reporter @a_cormier_:“I have further confirmation that this is right. We are being told to stand our ground…The same sources that we used in that story are standing behind it, as are we.”

one obvious thing about the special counsel's statement on the buzzfeed story that i haven't heard anyone say: what the fuck is with the placement of the second comma? for such an important, carefully worded statement, wtf happened there? it's impossible to read out loud without sounding like a mistake was made

"BuzzFeed’s description of specific statements to the Special Counsel’s Office, and characterization of documents and testimony obtained by this office, regarding Michael Cohen’s Congressional testimony are not accurate."

Karl Malone, Sunday, 20 January 2019 16:47 (five years ago) link

looks like two hours ago trump retweeted the father of really dumb teenage fartknocker jacob wohl, who claimed he knew of someone with a claim that mueller sexually assaulted her before holding a disastrous press conference in a holiday inn in front of a couple dozen angry journalists and several thousand confused people on periscope, whose tweet begins "Journalism is DEAD."

good mourning!
