Oh hell no. Also, the sound quality is probably better on the Merzbox.

Suddenly I remember an old CMJ article where ILM's own Whiney listened straight through the 24-hours-of-live-Throbbing-Gristle box TG24.

I think this Discogs post sums it up, my favorite is definitely that middle era but some of the early junk noise stuff is good, like Batz-Tou-Tai

weird experimental duo = 80-88
golden era = 89-98
laptop era = 99-present

I'd actually date the "golden era" as starting with 1990's Cloud Cock OO Grand

I'm sure we'll get more flippant as we get worn down but we're trying to give each album a fair shake.

in my experience you'll get more flippant until you hit the back third then you'll start to feel like what you are doing is Important and you'll get way too not-flippant and self-indulgent

this is not a shot at you, i just watched all of the nicolas cage movies and i gave way too much credit/ink to his post-2013 output is all

I really want a Merzbox but I read the packaging fucks up the discs?

I haven't heard that it fucks them up but none are labelled so good luck if you get them out of order.

Actually I just checked, also not good:

Label owner Anders had a rundown Mercedes-Benz 230 that he rarely drove, and the police told him to move it or else it would be towed. So he rigged the CD player to play the label's newest release, Merzbow's Noisembryo, and made it impossible to turn off or remove. He then put the car up for sale as a limited edition of one. It went unsold and eventually broke down. Anders then removed the CD player and got rid of the car.

EZ, this was a great listen! Thoroughly enjoyed this on my way to work. Looking forward to the rest!

Been a long time coming, but this finally made me splash out for a Merzbox! Whiney: The label still has some available for $450, but there are some on discogs going for about 350. Will report back about possible packaging probs.

I listened to the first EP with the disc playing off YouTube in the background, I just nudged the music along to the next track in sync with the discussion and it worked really well.
