I somehow missed PC playing with a symphony orchestra here a couple months ago

Golden Dream has the strangest effect on me, taking me back like ten years to a lovely place.

keep meaning to dig in to this one, only heard the single but I watched her Pitchfork Over/Under the other day and she's such a delightful dork.

The album and EPs are so good but all the live performances on YT are absolutely brutal, seems like she struggles to keep her voice healthy.

There's a video of "Pristine" from a Pitchfork festival. Not sure what's going on there, but it's an exceptionally uncomfortable performance. Great song though...

anything under the horizon? New album for example..

Apparently a new album called Valentine was due out on 11/5 and started to get teased, but all the references to it got pulled. I don't know if vinyl delays or what, but most refences to it disappeared. There was a thread about it on reddit just yesterday, with a link to a (now deleted) product listing with the cover:

Wayback machine caught it during the brief time it was up on the band's site, but it's gone now. Probably someone jumped the gun, so maybe an announcement is imminent.

Saw that comment but since nothing has been released at all yet I'm not sure that's based on anything more than maybe extrapolating from an interview or something, I'm not going to get too concerned about one comment like that.

Officially announced today! Video for title track is out, though I'll have to wait until tonight to check it out.

it feels more linear to me so i can see why ppl might find it less interesting than the previous record. that said i kinda love this, chorus really works for me

First record sorta limped to the finish after being frontloaded, so if this is more linear/consistent and much of it's in the vein of "Valentine" I'm buying.

the only thing i really liked on the debut was "heat wave" & this is unfortunately not as good as that

i just really love the way "ben franklin" is written, very chewy song

a lot of these songs remind me vaguely of something i can't quite pin down... closest i've gotten is thinking that many of these tracks are indie rock attempts at the next "crush" by jennifer paige (and thank god)

lot of sophistipop touches too, cf. "forever (sailing)"

that's funny, I came here to say I've heard nothing but great things about the new album but that they're one of those bands I've avoided because of their name, like soccer mommy.

i love this album

I think I need to see how this one grows for me, lyrically I love this, and her voice is even more wonderful here, but it's a little more laidback than I'd hope. I like her voice with more fuzz and guitars.

pleasantly surprised by this now that i'm getting around to it, was not expecting those delightful sophisti-pop touches!

actually what "forever (sailing)" really does remind me of is hikaru utada

"Glory" rules my world today. It goes to places I've been close to before but had not reached yet. I cannot stop listening to it again and again though I fear I am going to wear it out if I continue. She reminds me a little of Conor Oberst. She must have been 16 when she did "Static Buzz", that is pretty stunning.

I'm late to the party but I'm absolutely loving Valentine.

I've gone back to LJ's earlier work and it's not doing as much for me. Lush has some great tunes but seems pretty patchy. Worth another few listens as it may be a slow burner. Habit benefits from some lovely guitar work but the whiny slowcore emo vibes aren't doing it for me.
