GYGAX! I ALREADY GAVE YOU A COPY I THOUGHT?

SORRY FOR THE MISACRONYMING GYGAX! I WILL NOW BEAT MYSELF SILLY (BMS)!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:33 (twenty years ago) link

I also wish the Rapture would start flinging around tracks for remixes.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:35 (twenty years ago) link

When I first heard "I Need Your Love" I thought it was a remix. Rapture songs are remixes to START WITH considering how the DFA works... But yeah, I know what you mean, Ronan.

The beat and bassline from the new Juan Maclean song are very fucking close to ODB's "Got Your Money."

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:37 (twenty years ago) link

So the new annoying comparison: the Liars produced by the Neptunes.

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:37 (twenty years ago) link

the new black dice lp is produced by the dfa, no eye involved as far as i know.
"give me..." rules!!

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:39 (twenty years ago) link

oh, and so far there are finished rapture remixes by maurice fulton and the ends.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:40 (twenty years ago) link

the cindy adams of ny rock, everyone! kisses to lauren, as always.

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:41 (twenty years ago) link

LCD's "Tribulations" is great! Proper weedy indie-dance, num num!

The Ends as in R U Really From The Ends?

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:48 (twenty years ago) link

and speaking of dfa things, is anyone going to be at the lcd show at fabric tonight? i'll be there - look for the drunk american girl. no one else in london fits that description, right?

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:51 (twenty years ago) link

"drunk smartass american girl"

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:56 (twenty years ago) link

yanc3y,

you sent me a rip (and indexed, weee!) copy of the dfa colette No5 mix and a negroclash mix (which you identified with BALL POINT FUCKING PEN = skippy disc). yes, i am still in debt to you. how about huff for sweeney?

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 11 July 2003 17:00 (twenty years ago) link

fuck! sorry about the negroclash mix. i will send you another, with other goodies *cough*cough*

AUBREY HUFF STAYS PUT!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Friday, 11 July 2003 17:02 (twenty years ago) link

that's ms. drunk smartass american girl to you, gygax. i'd be a bit more polite to the holder of a copy of "twinkle echo" if i were you.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 11 July 2003 17:05 (twenty years ago) link

Yanc3y, fyi: i like maui wowie or kona gold.

ms. lauren, you have my full undivided attention.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 11 July 2003 17:39 (twenty years ago) link

Is Echoes pretty easy to come across on Soulseek? I'd like to hear it, but getting Soulseek to work on a Mac looks like a pain (and thus prefer not to waste time)?

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Friday, 11 July 2003 17:53 (twenty years ago) link

I'm still waiting to see if I'll get this one. Tom's spot-on about the LCD track, in my opinion. I'm liking LCD stuff about a thousand times better than the Rapture.

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 11 July 2003 17:57 (twenty years ago) link

I just can't believe how long the Rapture/their label(s) have taken to put out an album. Seems like they really missed the boat on that dance/funk/disco-punk thing, as well as the "House of Jealous Lovers" hype.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Friday, 11 July 2003 18:00 (twenty years ago) link

So there's gonna be a grime remix of the rapture?!?! HEAVY

sean g, Saturday, 12 July 2003 18:06 (twenty years ago) link

maurice fulton remixed the rapture?! allRIIIIIGHT now we're talking - that MU single is brainmelting

Dr. Annabel Lies (Michael Kelly), Saturday, 12 July 2003 18:48 (twenty years ago) link

i spy a certain ILM personality in the polaroids serving as artwork on the DFA comp...

whodat?

cinniblount (James Blount), Thursday, 25 September 2003 18:21 (twenty years ago) link

gygax! dude speaking of which LCD Soundsystem and Casiotone here in NYC October 9th - are you going to make it out for it?

hstencil, Thursday, 25 September 2003 18:28 (twenty years ago) link

as of right now, probably not. things can change though.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 25 September 2003 18:32 (twenty years ago) link

dang, man. I'm not the only NYer who would like to see you there.

hstencil, Thursday, 25 September 2003 18:33 (twenty years ago) link

mike piazza?

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 25 September 2003 18:38 (twenty years ago) link

hstencil, Thursday, 25 September 2003 18:46 (twenty years ago) link

I mean, the Mets were over by May, but technically yeah this is the last week of the season.

hstencil, Thursday, 25 September 2003 18:47 (twenty years ago) link

I got my Rapture cd (Echos) in the mail on Monday from Amazon.co.uk along with the new Luomo.

I expected to like the Luomo more, but the Rapture cd is awesome. Sorry to be a typical hipster but it actually rocks funks and stops starts in a great way. The chilled out songs are good too.

For some reason the one that sticks in my head the most other than Jelous Lovers is the 2nd track.

I'm floating in a constant heaven...

Awesome.

DFA Compilation #1>>>>>>>Echoes

gygax!, come east!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Thursday, 25 September 2003 22:44 (twenty years ago) link

Anyone heard the DFA's mix of Chromeo? It's cool.

Barima (Barima), Friday, 26 September 2003 08:28 (twenty years ago) link

Awesome! Fuck, see, this is why I still read this board.

Dan I., Friday, 26 September 2003 09:00 (twenty years ago) link

i like the chromeo remix waaaay better than chromeo plain.

ps - gygax!,don't you think i look like a blockhead in that picture?

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 26 September 2003 09:12 (twenty years ago) link

On a related topic... is there a compilation that has both LCD Soundsystem 'Losing My Edge' and !!! 'Me And Giuliani' on it? Anyone recommend similar?

Mog, Friday, 26 September 2003 09:16 (twenty years ago) link

I like Chromeo plain just as much (if not more). Veering b/w Cameo and Richard X - k cool.

Barima (Barima), Friday, 26 September 2003 09:24 (twenty years ago) link

On a related note of my own, I STILL can't find the Muzik mix CD.

Barima (Barima), Friday, 26 September 2003 09:30 (twenty years ago) link

Yeah, the main reason this track is so cool is just cause it's something from Chromeo that's new to me. Some of the non-popular ones are the best. Like, I think "woman friend" is probably my favorite, and "Since you were gone"!! Are they ever going to, like, release anything on their own!?

Dan I., Friday, 26 September 2003 09:33 (twenty years ago) link

Ugh, vocal tics creeping into your typing, c/d?

Dan I., Friday, 26 September 2003 09:34 (twenty years ago) link

Wait, Chromeo aren't the same thing as the Martini Bros. are they!?

Dan I., Friday, 26 September 2003 09:39 (twenty years ago) link

haha, disregard that, I knew that couldn't be right. Damn you glitchy turbo records website!!

DAn I., Friday, 26 September 2003 09:40 (twenty years ago) link

January 2004!!!

Dan I., Friday, 26 September 2003 09:44 (twenty years ago) link

lauren: no, you do not look like a blockhead in that picture! is that Andrew WK next to you?

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 26 September 2003 15:28 (twenty years ago) link

Chromeo are quite good aren't they, thanks for the heads up

mentalist (mentalist), Saturday, 27 September 2003 08:11 (twenty years ago) link

Dammit! Why isn't Beat Connection included on the DFA CD compilation??

disgruntled, Sunday, 28 September 2003 06:22 (twenty years ago) link

one month passes...
The DFA are preparing a number of swank remixes this November, including mix-ups of Junior Senior's "Shake Your Coconuts" for Atlantic, a DFA-ified "In A State" for U.N.K.L.E. and Island/Def Jam UK, and a rearrangement of J.O.Y.'s "Sunplus" featuring Yoshimi from the Boredoms for Ape Sounds/Bathing Ape Japan.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Saturday, 22 November 2003 21:27 (twenty years ago) link

mmmkay!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Saturday, 22 November 2003 22:19 (twenty years ago) link

It says on their site they're in the studio with Liquid Liquid OMG!!!

Sonny A. (Keiko), Saturday, 22 November 2003 22:51 (twenty years ago) link

the junior senior remix sucks. the unkle one okay, the j.o.y. one amazing.
