I have a hard time calling Favre-idolatry "bigotry" of any stripe because dude has actually won Superbowls. I'm not excusing the I-can't-pronounce-my-own-name thing, though.

I hate Favre!!! it's an irrational hatred though.

but he is being a hella drama queen abt. this retirement stuff. dude just go play golf.

I think (for real though) he's one of the most overrated "great" QBs of all time...i mean, he has the same number of SB wins as Trent Dilfer lets not forget.

Of course you do! You live in Minnesota!

Trent Dilfer has had fewer absolute disaster games in the playoffs. Same with Doug Williams and Mark Rypien.

I don't really have an opinion on the dude other than "get the shit out of my headspace you bigchinned fuck". i understand the idolatry, but the guy's been a big suckass jerkbutt for years. it's hard to remember now, but there was a time when he actually seemed kinda badass. i'm mostly pissed at the chinese water-torture style media coverage that's surrounded his BIG DCESIONNFOMFOMFGfgsfdsfgsfds. i just want to be able to not think or hear about the guy for a long motherfucking time.

I don't think that Brady has the natural ability that Favre had, but Brady is leaps and beyond better than Favre at actually being a quarterback.

two weeks pass...
I guess Favre is going to stick around for another year (big suprise).

I don't know about Farve.

My guess is the old boy will probably play until someone does a Theismann on him, so get ready to hear this stuff for another year or two.

i thot it was interesting to find out that the saints tried hard to get green bay to trade farebrbverer this year. i actually would've been pretty stoked about that, if it happened.

ONE SHINING MOMENT (throwing into triple coverage 50 yards down the field across his body w/ his team up 4)

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 23 August 2006 18:51 (seventeen years ago) link

i love how when once favre would've tucked the ball under his wing and taken foot (and probably gaining some good ground in the process) he now winces, throws the ball up for grabs off the wrong foot, and curls into the fetal position all in one motion. and all before actually taking a hit.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 23 August 2006 19:12 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, he sure sucks all right! What a loser!

Haikunym (Haikunym), Wednesday, 23 August 2006 19:20 (seventeen years ago) link

yeah, actually he does now. he's drifting slowly, inexorably, towards that willie mays in 73 with the mets territory. but i guess this goes back to something pats mlb of the 70s/80s steve nelson said upon his retirement. someone asked him what advice he'd have for a player coming into the nfl, he said "Play for as long as you can. Then play two more years."

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 23 August 2006 19:30 (seventeen years ago) link

While Favre did relatively suck last year, and while he does gamble too much as a rule, he didn't actually look that bad last year in the pocket. (I mean, compare him to Chad Pennington... no contest.) Not having Walker to throw to or Green to hand off to didn't do him any favors.

brett farv was pretty good in '04. i wouldn't be surprised if he has a Miraculous Bounceback Season in '06 and plays on in '07, because he's just that exact kind of douche

gear (gear), Wednesday, 23 August 2006 19:52 (seventeen years ago) link

there will be no miraculous bounceback season. he has no one to throw to but that point is rendered moot by the fact that the line is less effective than a 9th ward levee.

I'm not willing to say that he's better than your dead grandfather, but he's definitely better than Chad Pennington.

for the start of the season i'm going to what i believe to be the only buffalo bills bar in chicago (as well as one of my favorite bars in chicago), delilah's, to cheer for the pats as they demolish the bills.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Friday, 25 August 2006 15:58 (seventeen years ago) link

The thing is that my dead grandfather is also better than Chad Pennington in the pocket.
