"Fantastic expectations; amazing revelations" just for the way he sings it.

Yeah, lyrically a bit juvenile but he just about pulls it off.

I like this song too.

Yeah, I'm tending towards "Fantastic expectations; amazing revelations" for the same reason, but "Fallen empires are ruling" has a similar pull. (Although I always thought it was "fallen empires are rolling" till I looked it up, and I think that would be a better line...)

Fidget even after rohypnol

IIRC, another minor blip on the charts at this time was the Prodigy's rohypnol-themed comeback smash "Baby's Got A Temper"...

Too much 'motivational slogan' for me.

Yeah it's a bit much in that regard, I agree.

Bimble, Thursday, 24 April 2008 16:21 (fifteen years ago) link

however, chuck them all into a song, moving quickly from one to the other, and it diminishes all of them. In a good way.

I am ALSO voting for "Fantastic expectations; amazing revelations" just for the way he sings it. I like how he sings "Find earth and reap," too, though.

You know in Celebrity Fit Club Gary Busey claimed fear stands for "False evidence appears real." One of his many insane acronyms.

So...what is this song about, anyhow?

Doctor Casino, Saturday, 26 April 2008 23:28 (fifteen years ago) link

I think it's about being a fat stoner shitbag.

Noodle Vague, Sunday, 27 April 2008 10:32 (fifteen years ago) link

i think it's about turning your 'fears' into something positive and constructive. .. although the line "forgive everybody and remember" seems ironic given his bitter, longstanding, and public feud against John Squire.

I like the possibility that it might be the other way around - like all these positive slogans have a dark undercurrent, they're easy to say but you're afraid to actually make them happen or something like that.

Doctor Casino, Sunday, 27 April 2008 20:31 (fifteen years ago) link

I think the last two posts have great ideas, but Noodle Vague wins again.

ten years pass...

watched someone play five minutes of one of those Boggle-like cell-phone games where you find all the words in a given set of letters, and now i have this song stuck in my head for some reason. "final execution and, resurrection, freeing excellence affects reality, finding everything and realizing..."
