yup. and my nearest moment of fame. a record of 'mine' (ie i had something of relevance that he wanted for the full fat version) is featured - albeit VERY buried in the mix ..

loving the new stuff.
headphone music of the highest order.
and the cover of GIANT originally by The The is just massive
- cant wait to hear the album version with Matt on it.

Coming out in February now. Had no compunctions about clicking on Pre-order. Only Ninja Tune I could still care about. So stoked.

did anyone here catch the dj food full dome show a while back in montreal ?

http://vimeo.com/46610643

looks amazing, making feel excited re him performing this in the uk on saturday .

though i am rather nervous as to how my 9 yr old kid will deal with such an audio/visual overload !

well, that was too f*cking intense.

24 hours later and whenever i shut my eyes i still see mad shapes and stuff flying at me from all angles.

who knew that extreme vertigo and dizzyness could be so much fun.

if you ever get the chance to see a 'full dome' show, then don't hesitate.

the "Companion" album is a highlights reel of these three mixes that PC and Kev did in the first weeks of lockdown: http://www.djfood.org/kaleidoscope-companion-mixes/

(More sleeve notes in that link too!)

Oh wow - what a treasure trove! Guess I've got my work cut out for me.

Side note, for some reason my work computer blocks djfood.org as a "compromised website".

I love The Crow so much.

(and it's really nice to have two new versions on the Kaleidoscope Companion, which is out today!)

peace, man, Friday, 16 July 2021 13:50 (two years ago) link

listening now to the companion album.
2 versions of the Crow ?
I see Slow version in the tracklisting, but not another ?

mark e, Friday, 16 July 2021 13:56 (two years ago) link

ooh hang on, The Rook = second version ?
not got to that track yet.

mark e, Friday, 16 July 2021 13:59 (two years ago) link

Yeah, the Rook is the other one.

Always felt it was a shame that they tampered with the perfection of the Funkungfusion version.
None of the other versions - the Kaleidoscope version, the dub from A Dubplate of Food, or the two versions on the Companion, have the majesty of the original's synth strings.

Yeah, that version is the first one I heard and absolutely my favorite. But imo all of their interpretations of it are great.
