How would one prove that?

A certificate from a Notary Public?

RS £aRue (rockist_scientist), Monday, 7 March 2005 01:56 (nineteen years ago) link

Well, something must be done, or else it can't be critiqued the way Geir would want.

edward o (edwardo), Monday, 7 March 2005 01:56 (nineteen years ago) link

This is my least favorite of the three songs posted.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 7 March 2005 02:22 (nineteen years ago) link

I agree with jaymc. I hate to say it Geir, but I think your muse deserted you with this one. I much prefer the one that sounds like "Eve of Destruction" plus "Tie a Yellow Ribbon" as done by Gilbert O'Sullivan.

Ken L (Ken L), Monday, 7 March 2005 04:04 (nineteen years ago) link

Would you prefer if we only discussed the melody?

This track would not benefit from it, as, melodically, it is clearly the weakest all of all of the tracks I have recorded now. ;)

The vocals!

I like this one too, geir, esp. the little twiddle in the intro 30 secs. in.

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 7 March 2005 16:31 (nineteen years ago) link

This is like Depeche Mode fronted by Bob Seger.

Have we done a shamlessly, self-promoting "The Music of ILM-ers" thread with links to download? Because I, for one, could use the feedback...

Naive Teen Idol (Naive Teen Idol), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:20 (nineteen years ago) link

I think at least there should be a "my work" category in the questions categories.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:23 (nineteen years ago) link

Uhm, Geir, are the lyrics sung with a wink? I mean if so, it's hilarous, if not it's hysterical!! Either way, it made me smile, thanks.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:24 (nineteen years ago) link

Well, I suppose the "Ding Dong" and Monty Python references have quite a wink to them :)

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:59 (nineteen years ago) link

This track would not benefit from it, as, melodically, it is clearly the weakest all of all of the tracks I have recorded now. ;)

Well, yes it is. The other two were better. Lyrically, it IS astonishing.

OK. So fire away then ;)

one year passes...
OK, so I finally got my brand new Cubase SE figured out good enough to record another song - the first produced at my homestudio.

This is a bit different than the rest, as it is an electro/synthpop instrumental. In fact, this is the first song I made on the Amiga back in 1988, a song that I have made around 25 new versions of on various computers and instruments.
This 2007 version uses mostly softsynths

The song, "Eggs & Bacon" is found at my Uhørt-site:

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Friday, 2 February 2007 01:42 (seventeen years ago) link

There's something of Lionel Richie's "Hello" in the melody.

jimn (jimnaseum), Friday, 2 February 2007 09:56 (seventeen years ago) link

Hongro, is it me you're looking for?

sorry

Dan I. (Dan I.), Friday, 2 February 2007 10:03 (seventeen years ago) link

The opening of Eggs & Bacon reminds me of Sabrina's "Boys, boys, boys".

Were you part of the Amiga mod scene?
The only person I can remember from it anymore is Dr Awesome/Bjørn Lynne.

Øystein (Øystein), Friday, 2 February 2007 13:26 (seventeen years ago) link

There's something sweetly melancholy about it, nice.

StanM (StanM), Friday, 2 February 2007 13:34 (seventeen years ago) link

"Were you part of the Amiga mod scene?"

Sort of.

"The only person I can remember from it anymore is Dr Awesome/Bjørn Lynne. "

I sure remember him too. I was active at the same time :)

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Saturday, 3 February 2007 00:10 (seventeen years ago) link

While I am trying to figure out how to record vocals with satisfactory audio, I have put out yet another instrumental. This time it is a cover version for once, and the source is old: "Toccata & Fugue" by Bach. The Toccata is a rather faithful abbreviation of the original, whereas the Fugue is considerably more different.

Hopefully this sounds slightly more modern. :)

I love "Switched On Bach" though.

thirteen years pass...

I guess I have gone completely sellout. Or.. well, Hongroe is now on all the normal typical platforms, although I guess I will never have a Hongroe CD or vinyl record I can actually hold in my hands.
