"$10,000 dollar bill eh? Which musician's on it?"

"All of them, they are having a party. Little Richard's passed out on the couch"

"Wow, this I gotta see"

Top left appears to be Eric Burdon, with Simon & Garfunkel over his left shoulder (now THAT might be an awful group!).

Or, actually, the only good group out of any of the combinations listed thus far.

With all due respect, that poster makes we want to puke.

Marilyn, James Dean et al don't mean shit to me, but rock-god idolatry definitely does. Same with Pac & Biggie T-shirts. It's like folk-art inspired by folk-art.

Why don't lookalikes for dead celebrities hire themselves out as porn stars? It makes perfect sense, and there's a lot less chance of being sued.

Hey, it does!

Yeah, I see people wearing those shirts all the time, and it seems to represent EXACTLY the type of person who would wear one. And as a sartorial choice, a silkscreened wolf on a black T-shirt doesn't seem all that "crazy."

oh man this reminds me of that crap "boulevard of broken dreams" poster, in which james dean, humphrey bogart (!), and marilyn monroe appear in a version of hopper's "nighthawks at the diner." it never fails to show up in half-assed "50s diners" and bad college town used bookstores.

I like how Zappa's in "Heaven's House Band."

"Eat that pork
Eat that ham

On Billy Graham.
Moses, Aaron & Abraham...
They're all a waste of time

My favorite shirts are the And 1 shirts people used to wear, with different intimidating slogans like "Get your books son, I'm takin you to school!" or whatever. It's like you would by the shirt with the intention of making it clear that whoever came in your path would get their ass kicked.

Gwar ina Babyon (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 1 September 2021 20:15 (two years ago) link

I think it would be helpful if each poorly drawn person were holding something to identify them. In the manner of medieval saint paintings or the way, in the first picture, Amy WINEhouse is holding WINE.

Marc Bolan: smoking a bowl

John Bonham: eating a bon-bon

Jimi Hendrix: holding a live hen

Kurt Cobain: eating corn on the... cob

etc.

brimstead, Friday, 2 September 2022 23:59 (one year ago) link

For the first I think I put in “a cheesy poster of Janis Joplin jamming with other dead rock stars in a bar” or something. I originally had Hendrix and Cobain in the prompt too but it rejected that on the “no famous people” rule (sorry, Janis).

The expansion on the second one was similar but without the name I think.

TIL: the artist who first painted the Elvis, Bogart, Marilyn, Dean version of Nighthawks At The Diner was the same artist who painted the album cover for The Scorpions' Blackout.
