there's a Getz/Gilberto live album that came out shortly after that that also features Astrud on half the songs (doing Corcovado, One Note Samba, etc.) that is on a par with the studio album.

I recommend the soundtrack to "Black Orpheus", it was the precursor to a lot of the early 60s brazilian crossover jazzpop.

ah Getz au Go Go, yeah that's the one I was thinking of. Every bit as enjoyable as the studio album.

AC Jobim wrote some of the songs on that album. My favorite albums of his are Wave (I get this and Tide confused...whichever one has a giraffe on the cover art is the one I'm thinking of) and Stone Flower.

Elis & Tom, 1974. Astrud was a nice amateur singer, but Elis Regina rules. Anything by João is worth getting--he was as good as Miles Davis, Sinatra, one of them. Personally, I find Getz a bit wank-oid, nice tone, but really just ranch dressing on the tasty greens of the Brazilians.

Understated Joanne Brackeen on piano there, interestingly, not who I'd expect

one year passes...

76 may not be as perfect as the first, but I love it more nonetheless
