I don't know who is louder, but Henry can throw farther...

like that time he threw the chair in the dressing room (at the Channel) after reading Gerard Cosloy's review of the latest Black Flag release...

thankfully I knew how to duck fast and Gerard was not actually in the room...and I don't think Henry knew what he looked like...yet.

Henry Sincerly apologized for missing a spoken word performance on a night that it was raining so hard his plane had to be redirected to a different airport.

Jello spoke for 4 hours non-stop. At midnight some one stood up and said "Man I love you but fuckin' shut up."

Henry idolizes Ted Nugent, so his rants are usually low content, poorly informed but very energetic and exciting.
Jello idolizes Noam Chomsky, so his rants are usually intellectually provocative but dry and sometimes abstruse.
I'd prefer Chomsky had charisma and Nugent had an IQ over 50, then both Jello could drop out of the whole spoken word thing altogether. Jello could become an amusing dark-horse candidate and Henry could become a slapstick comedian...or bodybuilder...or construction worker or somesuch.
But I won't say that. It would be petty.
Besides, I'm a fan of both men's spoken word work, and I'm probably one of the few people on earth who has all of their spoken word work.

(Since I've only been exposed to JB's spoken word, I guess HR wins by default.)

HR is weird in that he started out as a *cough*beat poet*cough and mutated into a stand-up comedian.
JB is weird in that he started out as a fine satirist and has (devolved?) into a polemicist.

I've never really liked either of them -- they seem sort of pointless -- but if I had to choose I'd choose Jello, who seems like less of a prick.

I actually quite like both of 'em's stand-up, er, spoken word stuff, but I'm gonna go with Jello cause his name is "Jello" and that's fuckin cool.

biafra all the way. he actually "keeps it real" in terms of lifestyle politics, etc. (not that i care about lifestyle politics, but if you're gonna preach it to that extent you better life the life). he's actually a fairly mobilizing voice for young leftists, even if it just gets kids interested in finding out more. and as persuasive and biased as his spoken word records may be, he avoids sloganeering and encourages kids to "think". i ate it up when i was in 9th grade with my double vinyl copy of "i blow minds for a living".

Jello's piece on Mumia Abu Jamal is spot on, and it actually made my mom cry.
His peice about what would happen if that plutonium power sattelite had crashed was even more intense.
"What Matters now? (long pause) Nothing...Matters...Now! Looting! Cow Tipping! Armored Car Tipping!"
Hysterically funny in the original sense of the word. As in laughing out of control because the fear and loathing overwhelm your higher processes.

It wasn't bad enough that Our Boy Hank wasted his talent on that movie...he gets wasted by Dolph Friggin Lundgren...Dolph Friggin Lundgren dressed...as...a...priest!
